Hansel made sure that Abi had everything that she needed to keep Robin and Mina for the night. He kissed them both goodbye and then headed to the diner. He could cook but he didn't want to risk messing everything up and Isabel had been kind enough to make a meal for them. He then headed back to the apartment.

Getting Marian out of the apartment had been the hardest part. He'd wanted to set everything up so that he could surprise her. When he got back he had the table set with crystal candle holders and the best plates he could find. He put the food in the oven just to keep it warm as he went to take a shower and change. He needed for everything to be perfect.

Once he was squeaky clean, he changed into the clothes he'd picked out to wear for the evening. It wasn't fancy by normal standards but it was fancy for him. He then went to get the food out of the oven and set the table. He put a small red vase on the table with a single red rose and had silver candles in the holders, ready to be lit.

	Impishly Marian stuck her tongue out at him, before taking her seat. "I wish I knew you were going through all this trouble. I would have worn something more than my riding trousers." She took a sip from her glass, just a little more than wetting her lips really. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"You look beautiful." He kissed her cheek before moving around to his own chair. "You caught me before I could light the candles." He pulled a silver lighter out of his pocket and lit them before sitting down in his seat. "I hope that the dinner is okay." He looked down at the sliced pork roast with rosemary mashed potatoes and asparagus on the plate. It did smell wonderful.

	"It smells very good, did you make it?" Marian wondered at the candles, but she figured he was putting a romantic flare on things. She settled her napkin in her lap before digging in. 	Hansel's eyes locked on her finger immediately and he couldn't help but squirm in his chair for just a moment. He cleared his throat and took a long drink of his wine. "She's a great cook." He nodded, eating some of the potatoes. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Marian plucked up a bit of potatoes, as he heard his chair protest as he squirmed. Sliding the tines against her lips she raised an eyebrow in question, but didn't ask. 	"You really went all out, is there an occasion that's slipped my mind?" Marian started to worry as she took up another piece of asparagus, treating it just as she had before. 	He cleared his throat and tried not to blatantly stare as she sucked on her finger. He then shook his head to clear it, but also to answer her question. "No. I just....wanted to surprise you. 	Marian sagged a bit, with relief. She knew the month that they met was coming on quickly, but she didn't quite remember when exactly it was. "It is very nice. A very pleasant surprise indeed." 	Hansel got the small cake out of the fridge and took a deep breath before taking it out to the table. "Isabel has been doing some experimenting with decorations and asked if we'd be willing to be her guinea pigs just this once." He set the cake down in front of her. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Though he knew he might regret doing so, Hansel got down on one knee next to her chair. He took the ring from the cake in one hand and took her hand in the other.

"Marian. I know that we haven't been a couple all that long and it hasn't even been a year since we met, but I also know that I love you. Every day I love you more and more. The way you smile. The way you sing to our children." He took a deep breath and let it out. "You have made my life in this place so much richer for being in it. Would you do me the honor of being my wife?" His voice shook slightly at the question and if he hadn't been holding her hand and the ring, his hands would have been shaking.

Marian had to hold her lower lip between her teeth to keep it from quivering as he spoke. But it could only stem the tide so much, her lashes lined, even as a happy little sob bubbled up.

Words were beyond her, and she was sure after that speech that there didn't need to be all that many. So she nodded furiously. "Yes, yes, yes." She whispered softly. Her gaze dancing down to the hand he held.
