Who: Aaron and Marta
Where: Waking up Blue and alien
What: Marta and Aaron’s house
When: Saturday morning
Rating: High for language
Open: Not really
Status: GDoc/Complete

Aaron was having a crap morning.

He did not appreciate waking up with freezing cold legs. Or with birds screeching outside at him. He didn’t like waking up much in the first place, preferring as ever to lie in with the woman he loved trying to steal all the covers from him. Aaron grumbled as sunshine broke in through the window and he yawned wide. "Goddamnit, Marta..."

Aaron turned around and the bed creaked dangerously. "You stole the blankets again," he opened up his eyes, reaching his arm up to pull back some warmth from her.

His arm was blue. Pure, vibrant blue streaked with darker blue and spotted in some... shit, he was Na'vi. Like Jake wanted. Oh shit.

"HOLY FUCK!" he jumped off the bed, tail swaying from side to side uncontrollably. "MARTA, I’M FUCKING BLUE!"

---

Marta was still asleep, cocooned in the covers as usual and dreaming of odd things like people did when they were almost awake: she was discussing the latest paper that was about the best flavor for potato chips with her sister while Aaron painted the roof of their new house lilac. Everything made perfect sense in the dream, as was always the case, and she was about to tell Aaron that he should go ahead and paint the rest of the house when he suddenly started yelling about blue. "Aaron, wha?" she muttered, before breaking off and yawning, and then shifted round to face where all the yelling was coming from.

And then something smacked her in the face - not painfully, but enough to wake her up properly.

Opening her eyes, she sleepily wondered why the hell Jake was being whatever his blue body was called, Navi or something, but why was he in their room, hitting her in the face with his tail? She couldn't see Aaron, but he was probably hiding out in the hall or something.

"Not funny, Ja-" she began, but 'Jake' looked round at her as she spoke and her eyes widened in shock. That was not Jake's face, and she couldn’t help but scream a little bit.

---

"Holy shit..." Aaron made a grab for his tail, arms swiping as it eluded his grasp. It was so fucking weird and kind of good but he wasn't sure exactly how this had happened. "Holy shit, Marta, I'm a fucking blue alien thing!" he laughed slightly, mostly in histrionics. "Oh fuck, I'm blue. Jake's gonna go mental.."

He couldn't quite find his footing, stumbling around the bedroom. "Oh fuck, this is kinda cool."

----

"Will you.. Aaron, please, sit down. Oh my God."

Marta didn't really care about the fact that Jake would go mental because her boyfriend was currently ten foot tall and blue. And he had a tail that kept going everywhere. She figured that if anyone had the right to go a bit mental about what had just happened, except for perhaps Aaron himself, it was her. She unwrapped herself from her blanket cocoon and got off the bed very quickly, grabbing her dressing gown from the floor and pulling it on as she moved to the opposite side of the room from where Aaron was stumbling about.

"Look, just, please. Stop moving or you'll break something! And watch out for the lightshade!"

---

"I can’t stop moving it," he said, trying instead the tactic of sitting on it so that it didn’t wreck everything. "I’m sorry." He cringed as his tail flipped over a lampshade as he sat down.

Aaron could smell everything. He could see the smallest speck of dirt, he could hear voices if he concentrated. So fucking cool. "You think this was a wish?"

---

"A wish? Why would anybody wish you to be..." Marta trailed off as she gestured towards Aaron, very obviously freaked out by what she was seeing. "I didn't make a wish like that! Did you? I mean, I can ask Isabel if you'd like. You can talk to Jake, although I, I don't see why he would have done this, not without asking first. And will you pick that lamp up, please?"

Now that he was sitting down, and that tail was a bit more under control, she felt like she could move a bit closer. Aaron still looked like himself, mostly, once you got past the blue, but the differences... He had cat ears and a strange broad nose, bioluminescent dots all over him - highlighting his central nervous system, perhaps? Or maybe something to do with the lymphatic system or endocrinal? Perhaps she could ask Jake's brother. And the stripes, were they just for camouflage or did they play any other sort of role? Without even realizing that she'd gotten so close, she stopped in front of him and reached up to touch his cheek.

---

Aaron looked down at Marta as she caressed his new skin, little sparks of warmth coming from her human touch. But he knew the woman better than she thought and had seen that look in her eye; one of abject curiosity and touching him like he was back on her examination table.

He wrapped his three fingers around her wrist and removed her fingers from his face, "Nope. I know that look, Marta Shearing. I spent years seeing that look on your face when we were back home. I am not your science experiment, no matter what body I'm in." He was firm but tender in the way he spoke, not wanting to be poked and prodded and messed about with. Aaron wanted fun.

---

She couldn't help it. She saw science in everything, and now Aaron was a whole new species and he expected her not to want to learn more? She was going to have to get in touch with Jake's brother, definitely. "I'm sorry, but you're in an ent-" she started, and then stopped when she looked at his hand. "You only have three fingers, Aaron. Is that normal?"

Reaching up with her other hand, she tried to unwrap his grip from round her wrist. "I'm, okay, I'm sorry. No tests. Not without asking first, I promise. Will you let go? You're a lot stronger."

---

Aaron immediately let go of her wrist and looked at his super weird but kinda cool blue hands and long thick fingers that could wrap three times around her arm. "I only have three fingers. Jake's Avatar has four fingers, but I only have three?" he asked, confused. "Where’s a mirror, Marta?" he said, suddenly jumping up and hitting his head on the lampshade. "Ow shit fuck."

---

Aaron was different to Jake? Oh. She glanced at his hand again, determined that she was going to get in touch with Tom Sully now, and then moved back very quickly when Aaron got to his feet.

"There's a mirror in the en suite. It's been there for weeks, you know," she pointed out, watching the lampshade to make sure it didn't fall down and then looking up at Aaron. He was very... exposed? Tall. Blue. Stripy. "Are you cold?"

---

Aaron raced to the bathroom, knocking over everything in his vicinity with his tail. Jake was going to freak the fuck out when he saw Aaron was Na'vi now. He felt so weird, having to duck his head down so it didn't hit the ceilings or door frames, always being a little short for a guy as stocky as he was.

He crashed into the bathroom and just looked at himself. "I'm blue. I'm fucking... I'm a blue alien. I can't believe this shit." he turned around, tail swishing as he tried to get control. His ears twitched when he tried moving them. "I'm not cold. I can feel your body heat from here."

---

"Aaron!" she cried out, coming along behind him and trying to straighten everything out. She got to the door in time to see Aaron turn around, and tried not to smile at his twitchy ears.

"You can't tell me things like that, and then expect me not to ask questions, sweetheart," she pointed out, crossing her arms as she leaned against the doorframe.

---

Aaron turned to her, finally gaining some control over his new body, "It’s like everything you can sense is bigger and brighter and louder. I can hear the wind outside, I can smell the perfume you wore yesterday and everything." Aaron strode up to her and lifted her into his arms, "I can lift you like you were a feather." he grinned, "No wonder Jake wants to be like this all the time."

---

She squeaked a little as Aaron picked her up, but then he grinned and she saw how pronounced his canines were and she had to fight down even more questions. She did study his face, though, now that she was mostly over the shock of things. Careful not to seem too sciencey, she reached up to touch his face again, running her fingertips along his cheekbones and over his brow ridge. "You have no eyebrows, you know," she pointed out, raising one of her own as she spoke. "No facial hair at all. This is so strange, you look exactly like you, but everything is different. Your eyes, Aaron, they're yellow and they're huge but they're your eyes, I'd know them anywhere."

---

"I know that look, Marta Shearing." He warned dangerously, "You have the same look that Jake’s brother gets. With all his degrees and research and smart people glasses next to microscopes. You two would have me and Jake doing tricks to see what happened when you poked us." Aaron set Marta down, smirking, "This is so cool, though. It's fucking amazing. I look like me but I'm not me in the slightest."

---

Scowling up at him, she crossed her arms once again. "You're exactly yourself, don't be silly. You're just, whatever it is, Navi or something, but you're still you. And I'm sorry for being interested in what's happened to you, Aaron, but it doesn't just affect you. You're doing the exact same thing, checking out what's different and telling me about it, but I'm not allowed to ask questions or even touch you without getting warned off?"

She turned and let the bathroom after that, and found her slippers where she'd kicked them off, before heading down to the kitchen to get a large mug of very strong tea or coffee, she didn't care which.

---

"Marta..." he grunted as his ears turned down, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry... don’t be mad." Aaron followed her into the kitchen, hitting things and tripping up along the way. "Do any experiments you want. Just... no needles? I really hate fucking needles." He held out his weird Na'vi hand to her to study like she wanted.

---

Tea. She was going to have tea. Her mug was slammed down on the counter, just like the kettle was slammed down on the stove once she'd filled it with water, and the cupboard doors were shut rather forcefully to cover the sounds of other things being knocked over behind her.

"I don't want to run experiments on you, Aaron. I don't want to take blood samples or tissue samples, and I don't want to get Tony to run scans of you with JARVIS, I just.. Ugh, I don't know." She hung her head as she stood there, abruptly not annoyed any more, then looked back over her shoulder at him. "Are you hungry? What do you even eat now? Or do you want to go find Jake?"

---

"I want you to not be mad at me anymore," he said softly, kneeling down on the floor so they were eye level at least. "Please don't be mad with me, Marta. I'm kind of freaking out right now and I need you and your sciency mind to make everything better. I don't want to be Na'vi forever like Jake does. It's fun but it's not me."

---

"I'm not mad at you. I'm annoyed at what's happened, and you're not the only one who's kind of freaking out, but I'm not mad at you, not any more. I just, I don't know how else to deal with this. You're ten feet tall right now with a tail, and you're blue. How could I not have questions?"

She turned to face him properly, taking in the flattened ears and the tail that was finally still, and walked over to stand in front of him again. Without pausing, she wrapped her arms round his neck and did her best to hug him. No questions, no studying him, nothing. She just held on. "I love you, you know that. But I'm always going to have questions," she murmured, before pressing a kiss against his throat.

---

Aaron carefully wrapped his new arms around her body and held her tightly. "I know." She felt tiny in his arms and so breakable, he wanted to protect her and not hurt her. "Hey, if you get dressed, I can put you on my back and take you running."

---

"I am not being piggy-backed around the city," she told him, reaching up to run her fingers down his neck, along the faint line of dots she could just about make out in the daylight, and onto his collarbone. "But I will go for a walk with you, if you want. I do need tea first, though," she pointed out, just as the kettle started to whistle.

---

"You have some tea, sweetheart." He brushed her wild hair back and took in her features through his new eyes. She was so beautiful. "I am so hungry already. What do blue aliens eat?"

---

"I don't know. You're going to have to talk to Jake or his brother about that." She went up on tiptoes and ran her fingers along the length of one of his ears as she spoke.

---

Aaron's ear twitched and he laughed like a girl. "Hey, that tickles. Careful." His ear perked up again though and his pupil narrowed in looking at her. "That was so weird. I'm ticklish."

---

"Your ears are ticklish. You're right, that's weird," she said with a smile, then stepped back from him. "I'm going to make breakfast. You can go ask Jake questions or go outside or whatever, and then I’ll go get dressed and we can work out... I don’t know what we can work out, but we’ll do it after I’m dressed. Okay?"

---

"Yes ma'am," said Aaron without a hint of irony. He loved her when she was bossing him around and it made him smile at how much he would do to make her happy. Even admit he was wrong. "I'm gonna go wake up Jake and make him jump. Metaphorically speaking."

---

"You do that," she replied, before going over to the french doors and opening them wide for him; the keys were tiny compared to his hands and the lock needed a bit of a jiggle every now and then to get it working properly. This would be much easier than the front door, she reasoned.

"Please don’t get stuck up a tree."

---

Aaron laughed. What kind of idiot got stuck up a tree nowadays? He was huge. He dwarfed some trees! Aaron kissed her cheek softly as he could with his new mouth, "I'll see you soon, babe."

He practically ran all the way to the Sully house, marvelling at the smells coming from the Stackhouse girl's bakery. He wasn't even out of breath as he came up to the door.
