Who: Steven and Lillian
Where: The Brownstone
What: Maryanne's wedding
When: Sunday night
Rating: high just in case
Open: no
Status: ongoing

Lillian was excited after hearing the news that Maryanne was having a wedding. She had never been to Vegas before but knew that before she got her hopes up she'd have to speak to Steven about the trip. She waited until after dinner and Steve's bath before she brought it up.

"So, Maryanne is getting married," She sat beside Steven on the couch, reaching up to rub his shoulders. "Tony is letting her take the jet to Vegas."

"We have to treat him differently, though, Lil." He sighed. "He's not like other little kids. He's got so many health problems..." He shook his head. "He is a strong, amazing little boy but he is different and we can't pretend that he's not."

"I know we do because of his health problems." She sighed, getting teary eyed already. "But can't we at least try to treat him like the child he is? I don't like that he has to worry about so much, Steven."

"I spent most of my childhood worrying about every tiny little injury so trust me, if we can keep him from having to deal with that, I will gladly do so. We can let him be a kid, we just have to be careful."

"That's all I want, Steven." She wiped her tears and laughed a little, "Sorry I'm being emotional." She sniffled and laid her head on his shoulder. "I care a lot about him, Steven. It's like his my own child, is that weird to say?"

Steven wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. "I love that you're emotional." He chuckled. "It's not weird at all. He's me and you love me so..." He smirked.

Lillian leaned into him and smiled. "You do? I always thought you hated it." She sniffled. "I do love you, but my love for him is very different than my love for you." She giggled

"I've lost track of how many times we've had this discussion, Lil." He grinned. "He's hard not to fall in love with, really."

"I love you" She smiled. Lillian knew they had talked about it a hundred times but she liked hearing it. Since their first argument it had become an insecurity for her. She would never tell Steven though, she knew he would feel horrible. "He isn't, he's so sweet and talented. I love seeing the smile on his face when I tell him he can do something."

"He's used to being told no." He cleared his throat. "Got told no a lot when I was his age. Only thing I was allowed to do was go to the park every now and then and sit in my room and color." He ran his fingers through his hair. "I want him to be able to have a real childhood."

"No child should be told no that much. I understand not giving them everything but what you went through had to be horrible if that was the case." She rubbed his stomach and kissed his neck. "He will, he'll have a better childhood than you did, love."

"My dad is out of his life, that already makes it better." He smiled, clearing his throat. His eyes were getting a little misty. "He's going to have the best Christmas ever." He wiped at his eyes. "And the best life."

"I hate that man so much for what he did to you." She smiled back, stroking his cheek and leaned in to kiss him. "Oh I can't wait, I'm almost finished with his secret room, I should be done before Christmas."

"He'll love it." He kissed her back and smiled. "We're both very lucky to have you."

"I'm lucky to have you." She smiled and looked towards Steve's door. "He's probably sleeping now but I will ask him tomorrow about the trip to Vegas."

"We can assume he's sleeping but as soon as we think he is, he's not." He chuckled and kissed her softly on the lips. "We haven't had a chance to be alone since we took him in."

"Maybe we should just stop assuming. Maybe then he'll actually be asleep." She moaned quietly, resting her hand on his arm and tilted her head to the side. "It's been too long since we've had some alone time, I'm starting to go through withdrawals. " she giggled.
