As hard as she tried to stay cold. The moment she noticed he stalked away, she couldn't help but wish she hadn't said what she said. He hadn't done anything to her. Not knowingly anyway. Perhaps if she'd talked to him, she would have been let down ages ago. And this would have never happened.
Kicking off the heels, anticipating a twisted ankle if she tried to run after him in them, she darted out the door. What she didn't anticipate was stepping on a rogue piece of glass. "Ow, ow, Crap!" But she couldn't let that stop her.
"Richie! I'm sorry. Please come back, I'm sorry." She ignored the throbbing in her foot as she hobbled after him. "I'm taking stuff out on you that isn't even your fault, or rational. I'm sorry."
