Re: Sorting stuff with Sarah
He continued to just stare at her, unable to even begin to comprehend the look in her eye. It was as far from 'love' as he had ever seen.
He looked at her face and saw nothing of the girl he'd known all those years ago, instead seeing a stranger, and one who was so full of her own world, her own woes, that no matter what he said, there was no way through.
And then it hit him. It's all about her.
He could see there was nothing he could say or do that was going to break her out of whatever self-inflicted prison of pain she'd condemned herself to. He'd seen that sort of thing in the eyes of foes in the world he'd just lived in, and felt forced to take a step back from her.
"I can't answer your question, it's impossible and you know it, but I can tell you that not getting what you want, for whatever reason, isn't the end of the world. It may seem like it, but it isn't. I was in love with someone, for years, but I can't be with her. I hope she does find someone, and happiness, with all my heart. And I've seen what can happen when someone thinks they've been wronged, and turns around and takes it out on everyone around them." He shook his head.
"If that's what you think is the answer? Then I can't help you."
