Things had been particularly tense in the attached-by-the-ankle vampire camp after Cutler had knocked Mitchell out and called upon Grey for blood. Not that he'd admit it, but it had been a pretty stupid thing for him to do. And a shitty situation to put Grey in. But he'd been desperate and he didn't really regret doing it, obvious reasons aside. It had been tipping point and less than twenty-four hours later the vampires had found themselves detached from one another - what might he have done then if he hadn't fed? It didn't beg dwelling on though. What was done was done and what wasn't wasn't, and Cutler was in an unusually good mood owing to his freedom from the other vampire. He'd returned to his apartment earlier and actually considered the costume that lay on his bed, but he'd opted for a shower and a fresh set of normal clothes instead. Cutler had enjoyed having an apartment to himself again and celebrated with a blissfully lonely glass of red wine. He'd decided to leave blood to the next day, as people were likely busy with Halloween. At least that's what he'd planned. Until it had started to rain the stuff. Cutler hadn't believed it at first, but as he'd moved towards the window to investigate further, he'd smelled it. Any thoughts of him making an appearance at the Halloween party had flown out the window at that moment. So, instead of heading to the pub now like everyone else, Cutler headed to the supermarket. He didn't rush, even if he didn't expressly like being covered in blood - it was a pain to get out of things and it got sticky. But after months of never getting enough of it, the fact that it was literally raining down upon him was not something he was about to waste. He occasionally stopped and turned his face to the heavens, eyes closed, mouth open. I was disturbingly warm. By the time he reached the supermarket, the vampire looked as if he'd stepped out of a horror film. He left bloody footprints as he walked to the appropriate aisle. Buckets were pretty easy to find. He picked up a stack of them and left the same way he came - trying not to stray from his previous trail. He'd probably have to clean that up later. He realised that some of the island's inhabitants might take issue with the buckets, so the vampire headed to some of the quieter streets where he could place them out in the open. Once he was happy with his bucket placement, Cutler headed back towards the apartments. He still had one bucket with him. He planned to sneak that one up to the roof of his apartment building, though he was happy to have it catch whatever it could as he walked. When he arrived back at the apartments though, he sat himself down on the curb and turned his head to the sky once more. He hadn't felt this way in a while - almost drunk - and he'd barely even had any, really. Perhaps it was just being covered in it. He'd go in and clean himself up ..in a little while. |
