Ramses hadn't stayed away from Calleigh's side for long after she ordered him home. It felt wrong to not be with her, as if he weren't doing his duty by her and the children, so after a meal and a brief rest he'd returned. She was sound asleep, one hand resting on the swell of her stomach, and he noted that she'd had a splint put around one of her ankles as well. A wise precaution that, and his respect for Dr. Banner increased another notch. Ramses made a mental note to thank him once again the next time he saw the man, which would likely be soon.
He settled in to the chair next to her bedside and stretched his legs out, prepared for another long night until she was ready to be discharged. In short order the tablet was pulled out and he began to read yet another article from the archaeological journals to pass the time. Tried to read was a more accurate summation of the situation. After realizing he'd read the same paragraph four times Ramses decided it wasn't worth the effort. The tablet went back in the knapsack and he closed his eyes, letting the even sounds of his wife's breathing lull him to sleep.

Eventually the need to relieve his bladder roused Ramses from his slumber. He stirred without opening his eyes and found himself trying to sit up, which was strange because he didn't remember lying down. Also he felt heavier, and sitting up was proving extremely difficult, something was in the way...and was that a man's breathing next to him?
He opened his eyes and glanced toward where the breathing was coming from, and saw himself! It was as if he were looking at his own reflection, there he was sound asleep with his feet propped up on the table and his chin resting against his chest as it rose and fell in a steady rhythm. Ramses stared at himself in mounting confusion, and then he felt the most peculiar sensation in his midsection, as if something were moving.
"No." It was a barely a whisper but it only added to the data that were summing to an inescapable conclusion, as the accent was his own but the voice was that of his wife! He turned his head back to look down and could see the rise of breasts and a large pregnant belly beyond, both concealed by hospital gown and covers. A trembling hand, slender and feminine with a elegant diamond ring on the third finger, came to rest on the belly as he felt one of the children squirm within him....or should it properly be 'within her'?
He was in Calleigh's body. If he wasn't experiencing it for himself and heard others who had experienced it on the island he wouldn't have believed it possible and Ramses had to fight a growing sense of panic. "Ya Allah!"
This couldn't be happening to him!
