Who? Gatsby & OPEN
Where? Outside his house, near the beach.
When? Saturday afternoon
What? Gatsby is shocked to discover his house on the island
Status? Open, ongoing
Rating? Low, I think.
Since returning from behind the door, Gatsby hadn't been out and about much. He'd stayed in the apartment, resting, keeping warm, taking the medication that Dr Watson had given him to prevent a chest infection. The lack of electricity didn't worry him. It had been a luxury he had been fortunate enough to enjoy in New York, but aside from lighting and heating, he had very little real need for electronics. They were a pleasure, but not something he was dependant on to the same extent as some other island residents.
But he was feeling better, and it was apparently good for his health to take a walk in the fresh air. Doctors had always recommended walking by the beach, hadn't they? It would be good to clear out his lungs, strengthen him again.
Although it was physically good for him, he was afraid that it didn't do his nerves much good. He certainly hadn't expected to come face to face with his own house in the middle of this strange island. What did it mean? Had he succeeded in his mission through the door after all? Was this some sort of reward? He didn't understand-
But it was definitely his home. And yet he found himself incapable of entering, rendered paralysed by the edge of the swimming pool, staring into the water with a strangely miserable expression on his face, as if he planned on just throwing himself in any second.
