Max and love didn't get along...ever. She'd only ever felt attraction for one man, perhaps two, but the other she would never, ever, let on to feeling things for beyond friendship. Logan was that only man she'd ever loved openly. Besides her small, knit together family from Manticore and her friends from Jam Pony, there was very few other people Max would consider dying for, but Logan was definitely one of them. They had danced for literally a year around each other, unable to fully express their feelings for one another. Max was crippled emotionally because of her past and Logan never thought he was good enough for a super human, bitch chick like her. It definitely hindered the relationship and by the time they had accepted their feelings, it was too late. Logan would die if he was with Max; they couldn't be together. It broke a girl's heart. On top of that, there was Alec, Ben's twin, and oddly enough, the man she said she was when Logan called her for the last time. Even Alec looked at her slightly shocked and surprised, but strangely, he didn't call her out on it. Not like it mattered now, she was here, on this crazy, batshit island and there was no escape. Period.
Somethings never changed. Much like back home, Max couldn't sleep and most nights she took to the streets, either on a walk towards the beach or a bike ride through the sleepy, rather haunting little town. Tonight, she'd chosen to walk rather than ride and took to the silent streets around ten or so. Her first stop was the diner, where she ordered up fried chicken and then she was out, walking around, hands stuffed in the back pockets of her tight leather pants, brown eyes warily taking in the world like always. It was truly like every other night, but there was something different, something in the air or maybe it was Max herself. She felt strange, freer, more light than the previous rounds she took through the city on a nightly basis. It mirrored a lot of what she felt when she was at home, with Logan and that frightened her. She barely knew anyone here so how could she be falling in love or feeling love? It didn't make any sense. Nothing about this damn island made sense though, did it?
Taking a deep breath, the transgenic turned, heading back towards her apartment and more restless wandering. She felt like a caged animal despite the openness and freedom the streets provided. Still, being out here, she didn't trust herself at all. It was almost like she was in heat and desperate. All the more reason for her to head home before she went all lioness on someone and ended up regretting it in the morning.
