Who: Miguel and Bucky
Where: Bucky's coffee shop
When: euuuuuuugh O'Clock, Monday night/Tuesday morning
What: Not shocking sleeping, that's what.
Warnings: Nightmares, flashbacks.
It was really shocking early. Or late. Or something awful like that.
Miguel had gotten back home to Sarah and Harri and Mouse last night (Umbra and Mister were... somewhere, he was fairly certain of it) and he'd made it through dinner. He'd made it to Harri's bedtime, and spent about ten minutes discussing the latest entry on Robot's upgrades wish-list. Lyla had made notes, which was for the best really because Miguel had no idea what they'd talked about. He'd made it as far as sitting in the living room with one of the mediwizard texts he'd borrowed from the bookstorelibrary, and was dozing in his seat within five minutes. A nudge from Mouse after about fifteen minutes of that brought him round enough to realize that he needed to go to bed no matter what time it was.
He'd fallen into bed, fallen asleep within seconds and then... kept falling. Falling through endless water that never got any deeper and never let him get any closer to the surface no matter how much he tried to swim up. And the anger that snuck in and wound up surrounding him was terrible and everywhere and so strong that even though he was a grown man, even though he was shocking Spider-Man, he felt like he was six years old again and his dad had been drinking and Ma was crying in her room which meant it was his turn for a black eye or sprung ribs and no matter how much he tried to get away, he couldn't swim fast enough or far enough and he
woke up. Again.
Glancing blearily over at the clock in his and Sarah's room, he just about bit back on a groan. He'd managed a whole two hours of sleep, and now he was wide awake.
He lay there, trying to fall asleep again or even just rest for a while, but he was awake and restless with it and if he tossed and turned much more, he'd wake Sarah up and he wasn't going to do that for something stupid like this. So he dragged himself out of bed, put some clothes on and then left the room silently. He read on the couch for a while longer, but soon enough he knew he needed to be out and doing things. Not spider-things. Not yet, at least. He hadn't had any caffeine yet, after all.
So that decided where he was going for him. He left a message with Lyla to tell Sarah where he was and that he'd be back for breakfast, and then headed for the food court. If Bucky was in and baking, he'd get coffee there.
