Annie placed a hand on Kat's shoulder, her fingers still ending in the boned claws as they had done since the changes to the station had started. "But today isn't for me. You had an activity in mind, no?"
She was trying to modulate her tone, to sound chipper and upbeat, like Kat would expect her to. There was no sense in making the woman worry about her, Annie reasoned with her logic again. But for all her acting skills, her remaining eye was still dulled. Lacking the creative, scientific and excited spark of genius. Instead it was doll like, an obvious prosthetic in a cyber-body.
