Miguel's eyes were getting better. Slowly, very slowly. Far slower than he would have liked, or was used to. Sarah had really made a mess of them. He checked every morning when he woke up, and he was currently starting to get back the ability to detect lighter and darker areas. It still hurt, so he wore cloth bandages wrapped around his head and completely covering his eyes. There was no way anyone on this station would give him medical attention, and they'd heal on their own anyway. Eventually. So he covered them up, and let Bonnie's light-spell and Lyla's constant audio description of everything guide him through his days.

He could see people, where they were. And he could see Bonnie and Lyla amazingly well, which was helpful. He could make out outlines of things like walls and doorways. He could see where his phone was, but he couldn't read anything on it. He needed Lyla to describe things for him, her voice low and soft so that he could hear her easily but she wouldn't annoy anyone else if they were around. And she had to read everything out to him. It was a very awkward way of existing, and he wasn't overly fond of it, but it was how it had to be for the time being.

He was still determined to work out a way of getting people from his station to this one, though, and without needing to do swaps. So he went through the ships and scrap components he found in the various docking bays on Wheel 4, and between Lyla and himself, they were sorting out a good amount of useful parts.

He was buried inside part of the engine inside a scrapped ship of some sort, him finding his way around the components with his hands while Lyla described everything to him and answered his questions. Every so often, she would manifest and show him her scan of the components since she was the thing he could see clearest.

"Show me how these fit together, would you?" he asked, holding some sort of glowing cuboid in one hand and the housing that felt like the cuboid should have fit into it in the other. He couldn't see the details, so he needed Lyla to show him where there were any contact points or breakage areas or anything like that. "And what's this made of? I can sort of see all of it."

"Of course. One moment, Miguel."

Weird. Normally it was instantaneous.

The more Miguel struggled, the more Loki locked the other man's head with the space gem. He had intended on leaving the man alive if he could. People frowned on murder on the station. "Now," this time he growled as his concentration was interrupted. "You have a chance to make it out alive. Do you really want to waste it like this?" And with that he dived back into the connections, following them, first to Higgs but that wasn't where they stopped.

He couldn't move. He couldn't see anything but bright light. He was trying so shocking hard not to panic, but he was terrified and it felt like he was eight years old again, keeping Gabri safe while his Dad beat the shit out of his Ma and knowing that it was his turn next because he had nowhere to go and noone to go to, nobody to believe him or care.

He started going over the basic concepts of genetics in his head, DNA and RNA, the building blocks of nucleotides, all sorts, everything and anything he could think of. Old coping mechanisms.

All his knowledge and strength, skills and abilities, and he couldn't do anything to make it stop.

A few moments passed and he then he had the information he needed. Interesting, he thought to himself as he stepped back. His mind started racing already, thinking about the possibilities and implications. He released his grip on Miguel's head. The man's instinct to fight, spit and claw was endearing in Loki's opinion. He had respect for people who did not give up. Loki himself only ever did that in order to postpone the fight to another day.

"Now, you might get lucky... hmm... yes, maybe I will not need to replace you," he said as he pondered on how to proceed. This might be a chance he would only get once. The strings were attached to Higgs and from there he needed to pass on. His own competency in mind wandering was lacking compared to that of others. With the mind and space gem combined it was a possibility but he lacked half of it. Dan and Abra had forged the bridge to Higgs' mind a few months ago. He considered calling on Dan but Abra's power reached farther than his ever would. Yes, a little visit to the sorceress might work out well. Her eagerness to help could be stirred into the direction he needed.

As soon as he could move his head again, Miguel gasped and jerked away from where the bright light had come from, the side of his head smacking into his still-outstretched arm.

Loki was talking but he wasn't listening. He couldn't. The pain in his mind (not just his head, his mind) was gone for the moment, but now the absense of pain filled his head with white noise that was taking longer than he liked to die down. He could usually cope with pain - his body was designed to deal with it and to heal quickly - but this was different. He needed to think, jammit, he needed to work out how to get away from Loki and the not-noise that had filled his mind.

Not much of a talker, Loki decided as he let the illusion vanish from Abra's place. He glanced back at the man, wondering why he was so quiet. "Fine... let's make this easier for all of us, shall we?" he asked. His tone was still soft. Loki did not think he was being cruel. But the young sorceress might. "Don't bite, little spider, or I need to be less kind." And with that he reached out to other man's head again.

Miguel shook his head to try and clear it, but then there was a hand against his face again. He could still move his head this time, so he twisted away as best he could.

"Shock no! Don't touch me, don't touch me again or I swear, I'll bite your shocking fingers off," he ground out, even as he tried to keep moving out of the way of Loki's hand.

"Yes, yes," he said drily as he touched the man from the back. A quick touch and a pulse of magic spread through the other man's mind, rendering him unconscious. He drew back from the limb form, releasing the limb form the spell of the infinity stone.

With a quick spell, he brought young Abra to the empty planet. Stretches of sand hills were the only thing that greeted her alongside the unmoving form of Miguel. Only the small trace of blood in the back was evidence that a struggle had taken place.

Abra held her hand out over Miguel's form. using her shine to give herself a peek into the fight.  "Spider vs. the undead.  You could have sold tickets."  She joked, though she knew a few people on the station would have loved to see it.

She looked around at the hills, checking to see if any of the sand was as black as in Higgs' mind.  "What do we do next?"  She asked.

Loki chuckled whole-heartedly at that comment. Oh, he liked her. Humour and ruthlessness were a formidable combination. She would make a terrifying foe one day.

"Let's settle down over there. We will need his head," he said and pointed towards the limb form. He walked over to it and took a seat next to Miguel's head.

Abra nodded and sat next to him, watching carefully.  She reached out through her shine, probing Miguel's mind gently to get a feel for how different he was from the Miguel she knew.   She could joke with her friends about getting time off school and still miss the teacher, the real teacher.  "You're lucky you got to keep your head attached to the rest of you."   She whispered to unconscious form.

Another chuckle. His ears picked up the whisper. "I've tried to tell him that but his ability to listen to reason is highly impaired," he concluded. It was a sensible conclusion in Loki's mind. "Now, first I would like to show you something..." He held out his arm for her to take. Hand held open to the sky. There was a shimmer of blue crawling out from under his sleeve. It radiated a sense of power to anyone who could pick up on it. Strong power. Old power.

"That would explain why he's working with Higgs."  Abra took his arm and watched the shimmering blue.  She couldn't help being curious.  Power was tempting in any form. They were always monsters.  She wanted to be strong to defeat Higgs and any others that came to the station, looking to hurt the people she cared about or anyone innocent. "Is that your magic?"  She asked.

Loki could see the curiosity in her eyes. Good. Excellent. Without curiosity, eyes were closed to the world and one would not learn. "It is and it isn't. It is something much more ferocious than that. It is part of the very fabric of the universe, an ancient part. But I guide it, like not many can. Let me show you..." And with that he gave her a sense of the stone, filtered just a little of the energy to her. It gave her a sense of SPACE around her. The vastness of the universe, how it spread into endlessness and how they were terribly small against them. Planets, people, animals - there were tiny bits of sand in the playground of existence. Against, everything Loki and Abra were meaningless. At first it had disturbed the god, it had gnawed at him. Even though it was him who was wielding the tool, it was just a tool. But in the end, it was a freeing realisation.

It wasn't, however, what he wanted to show her. Just perspective. He found it helpful to have a map. It wasn't just a sense of direction and of size. It was knowledge of it. Something that wasn't quite comprehendible to a mind like theirs. But if she would turn her attention to any place, she could feel it, could feel the bustling of activity or the absence of things. He couldn't make it last but it was something that would stay with her for the next few weeks and slowly fade. Once the connection to the stone broke, it would not give her an accurate picture anymore. It would be a throwback to the point they were at now. But streets and alleyways would not change. Neither did planets or black holes.

"Do you understand what you've been shown, Abra?" he asked softly. It was a lot for a young mind to take in. But often the young were better at it than creatures as old as he was.

Abra connected with the power easily.  She wanted more of it, to learn how to become a giant in the playground.   "Yes."  She answered softly.  "Everyone on the station, Higgs' people and our people, we're all like ants and the station is a pile of sugar we're crawling over."  In the grander scheme of things, their fight was insignificant.

Abra could feel an entire universe around her, and beyond that more universes with their own plants, stars and moons that they would never see without a door or other magic.   There was a vastness of space that would never be touched by their little conflict.  "We're so small and it's so big." She added.

Abra forced herself to look even beyond that realization.  Loki had shown her this for a reason.  The sugar pile was theirs and needed to be defended.  The bad ants had to be squished.   She figured it out slowly.

"We can feel everything, find everything.  We can find our missing people?"  Abra asked it, rather than state it outright.   It was all so new. She needed to know if she was on the right track and figuring out what she needed to know to help Loki and all of her family and friends.

Loki smiled softly to himself as the girl caught on. Her mind was quick and her power enough to keep up with what they were doing. It was impressive. "Ah, yes, that is what we are here for. But it would be too much to turn every stone in the universe. We need to know what we are looking for. We need a connection." At this point he nodded towards the unconscious Miguel. "That is one start. The other is you. He is has been your teacher. You know him, way better than I do." He was not interested in making deep connections with most. "So, follow me." The god took their hands and placed them on Miguel's forehead. Hers under his.

"Try it," he said softly. He wanted to give her a chance to see for herself. To feel the bridge that led first to Higgs and then off to somewhere else. To another presence, a familiar presence. Loki's connection with the original Miguel was not strong enough to reach there and his mind wandering skills were not polished enough to ignore the set back. But it was not the only reason, he showed her this. The more power she gained, the more support she could offer later. And Abra, she had both potential and drive to do it.

Much too much, Abra thought.  The universe had so many 'stones' where Higgs could have hidden and imprisoned their friends.  She followed Loki's lead, touching fake Miguel gently.

Abra reached out through her shine, using the physical contact as a guide to the real Miguel.  It was different than finding anyone on the station, or finding Dan back home.  She wasn't sure if that was because of Loki, the other universe and the distance between them or a combination of all of it.  She managed to gain a vision, blurry at first, of a very still Miguel.  "He's dead."  She whispered, with a tinge of anger bubbling up.   She pushed it back down.  Revenge would come later.

When Abra was calm, she saw him breathing.   "No, not dead.  He's unconscious like this Miguel.  We should hurry and bring him home"   She looked around at his surroundings in her vision, trying to see where he was.   "You see him too, right?" She asked.  "How do we get to him?"

The young woman's thinking was quick. She was a natural in using her abilities. "I'm impressed, little sorceress. Now, the question is can you impress me even more. Can you follow the connection into his plane?" he asked softly. It was a huge distance to span. But this was a task even many competent old sorceress could not pull of. Loki himself would struggle to do the task on his own.

Abra concentrated all her energy into keeping and following the connection with Miguel.  Her eyes remained pure white and a trickle of blood fell from her nose.  It was further than she had ever reached before, even more than contacting someone on the other side of a station door.  Once she was certain she could do it, she answered.  "Yes."

A smile spread on Loki's lips. "Excellent. Go and I'll follow," he said as he observed the changed in her. He wondered what it meant, that trickle of blood. Was it harmful to the little sorceress - using her power? It did not matter right now. He could catch her if she dove too deep. He wouldn't let her get hurt. But it was a mystery, something he would like to know.
