It wasn't the truth. He knew that. He hadn't been saved. He had been held back to be used. The ghost huffed in dry humour. It was too much like him to do that. He was angry about it. But he understood. It made him respect the choice that had been made. Sacrifice himself for his family. Yes, that was an easy choice. A choice made even easier by the circumstance that he had only to sacrifice a different version of himself. It was nothing his counterpart actually had to live through.
"Well, he must be very caring" was the quiet statement he made instead. It held an edge to it that gave away that he did not quite think that.
