"You don't get rewards for stuff you didn't do yet, Mommy!" Harri pointed out, entirely reasonably, and Miguel's control cracked a little. He covered his mouth with his hand so that he wouldn't laugh out loud, and then nodded. When he was almost certain that he wasn't going to laugh, he moved his hand away.
"That's true," he said to Harri, before looking vaguely in Sarah's direction again (he didn't dare make direct eye contact with her, not yet, because he really didn't want to laugh at Harri). "She's right. We haven't made breakfast yet, so I can't get a reward for that. But," he said, and then looked down at Harri, "I did make the coffee for your Mommy and myself, so that does deserve a reward. Right?"
"...I guess so," Harri agreed, and Miguel grinned before turning back to face Sarah again, leaning in and claiming his coffee reward, a quick kiss.
