Who: Quinlan Vos and Kat.
Where: Kat's Place
What: Quinlan's arrival on the station
When: Saturday evening
Warnings: Blood
Open: Open
Status: Ongoing

Quinlan opened his eyes. It was strange. He couldn't remember closing them. It wasn't like his situation gave him the luxury of rest. The last thing he could remember was running through the jungles of Kashyyyk. He was injured. Badly injured. The platform he had been standing on had exploded, nearly killing him. He had managed to get away barely, using the Force to try and keep his trail concealed but it hadn't been enough. He left a trail of blood behind him, dotted on the grass and leaves. The rain had been a blessing and a curse, washing away some of the evidence of his survival but also leaving footprints in the sodden ground.

Blinking, Quinlan's eyes adjusted to his new surroundings. He couldn't remember finding shelter, let alone any place indoors. Slowly, everything came into focus. He had no idea where he was. He didn't recognise anything. Wherever he was, he was sure he wasn't on Kashyyyk any more. But how did he get off the planet? Who had taken him and why? He groaned as he tried to sit upright. Had he been taken in by troops? Things looked far too nice for that. And besides, all the other Jedi had been put to death so why kidnap one? The other Jedi... Memories flooded back to him. That feeling in the Force. One after the other, his brothers and sisters in the Jedi order fell. He could feel their lives fading, their essence becoming one with the Force, and the Force cried for them silently.

Wherever he had landed up, Quinlan knew he was going to have to try and survive. Get his bearings and try to get back to his beloved. For that he'd need to find a ship. He pushed himself up against a wall, and stood up. Holding on to his ribs, he paused, certain he heard movement. He had no where to hide, and he was too injured to try anything silly. Most of his clothing had been shredded in the blast too. The Jedi reached for his lightsaber and waited, watching in the direction of where he heard the noise. Waiting.

Katherine was anxious. She had been anxious all week. The anticipation of something bad that could happen. Everyone who had grown up on the island had lived with it. It was difficult to grow up with the uncertainty the disappearances brought with them. One day you could wake up and your whole family was gone. Nobody would search for them. It would be a pointless search.

Right now, however, it was not the disappearances that concerned her but a battle. Her father wanted to face the man that had murdered him. Her mother wanted to join him. Her uncle wanted to join him. If things went wrong, she went from happy family to orphan within a day. It was too real.

When she entered the living-room, she was still lost in thoughts. It was Myrkvan, her dark wolfdog, whose low growl alerted her to the presence of the other man. Katherine jumped when she finally realised that there was someone in her living-room. "By Bor, why are you in my - wait, Kai?" The man looked remarkably like the other god. But... no, that wasn't him. There was something different. "Who are you?"

Quinlan could heard the growling. It was almost as if he hadn't left the jungle. As if something had tracked him down and there he was, cornered. Pinned. Was he going to have to fight his way out? Trust in the Force.

There is no passion, there is serenity. He had to remember all that was taught to him. To feel out through the Force. And he did. He could feel Kat approaching just before she walked into the room. Lightsaber in hand, he watched her carefully. Not the reaction he had been expecting. He had expected someone to try and kill him, honestly. But he could sense no malice from her. She wasn't one of the clones chasing after him, nor was she was of the Kashyyyk natives. Then she called him Kai...

"I do not know who you speak of..." he began, watching the woman carefully. "Where am I? How did I get here?" he asked. He still held onto the lightsaber, ready to ignite the blade at any moment. If he had to continue fighting for his life he would do so.

"Riiight..." It was almost a sigh. She had an idea what had happened. The man was a new arrival. Sometimes it was hard for her to stay empathetic to the impact the craziness of suddenly being dumped somewhere else had on a person. She had done this explanation so many times, it had grown boring.

"You are in my home. On station X03 in the sector of Sagranda. As you speak my language flawlessly, it is unlikely that you belong into this universe. By the way, you can put that away," she said and motioned to what she recognised as a lightsaber. Katherine had trained with many Jedi and Sith.

She knew she should be wary of him. He was a stranger and he had powers. He might be a powerful Sith, ready to slaughter her if the information she provided did not suit him. But her mind was exhausted and he seemed to display little hostility. So she turned away from him, over to the light grey sofas and walked towards them. "Would you like a seat? You look like you could do with some healing." And new clothes.

Quinlan wasn't the most stable. He was covered in nasty burns and wounds. His old Jedi robes were in tatters. And he was in a very unfamiliar place. Whoever this strange woman was, she acted like she had seen it all before. As if she were accustomed to random appearances. And she at least knew the weapon he was wielding. That surely meant that the feeling he had when he woke up was real? He could sense others through the force. Was that truly Obi-Wan?

He attached the saber back to his belt. He wasn't sure what Sagranda was. He had never heard of it. But to know he was far far away from the Clone army was both a relief and a worry. What of his beloved? Was she safe? He couldn't let that take him down a dark path again... Not after everything he had been through. He felt more connected to the Force than he had ever felt before. Overcoming the darkness within him had made him stronger. He couldn't afford to slip again.

"I was running for my life..." he explained calmly, his tones even. "If you are able to assist with healing, I would be in your debt, stranger" he said, bowing his head to her. "My name is Quinlan Vos. I am..." he paused, unsure if he should say. If he was truly as far as he thought, he'd be safe, surely? "I am a Jedi Master" he added.

Jedi. If the man spoke truth, then that made her a whole lot safer. His query for assistance stopped her from taking a seat. He looked battered. Spending time around the gods sometimes let her forget how fragile the human body was. "Of course, I can help. I am not a skilled healer but I know some remedies." Especially the ones for flesh wounds. Not many in her household got sick. Her father and aunt were past worries of the living, her uncle and grandmother were of a godly health and the worst affliction that had ever befallen her beloved was boredom. It had done so with a vengeance, however.

"Take a seat or do you need assistance? Otherwise, I will be right back," she said with a soft smile. She hoped it was encouraging. She didn't feel like it. She felt like clawing down a wall but the men had enough trouble of his own.

"You seem troubled..." he said, a neutral level of concern in his voice. A coughing fit soon took over. It was difficult to breath. He wasn't sure why but each breath felt like he was breathing in fire. Focusing on balance had kept him going so long but now that he had stopped, it was proving a bit more difficult. He still wasn't entirely sure he was safe. What if those who chased him appeared? Would she turn him over to them? He wasn't in any position to defend himself. Vos didn't mind when the odds were stacked against him. He tended to act like he liked things that way. It earned him a reputation for being a bit mad.

Not only did Quinlan have burns covering his body from the explosion, his right arm was broken too. He had a variety of minor injuries but most seriously, his lungs were burned. He had made make shift bandaged from parts of his old Jedi robes to help keep him stable. But they were damp and starting to come away from him.

Sitting down on the floor, he leaned his back against the wall. "I will be fine, thank you. Although I would like to know your name" he added, his expression remaining the same. Warm but neutral, keeping his pains beneath the surface.

You seem troubled... Here was a man who had problems standing upright and he showed concern for her. Katherine could not help but chuckle softly. The situation was absurd. Sometimes her whole life seemed like that. "I... I do believe you win any contest in that regard. I will be back in a moment."

She was back in a moment. The potion and medicine cabinet was down the hall. So not more than five minutes later and she had returned with some flasks and bandages. One of the flasks was thankfully labelled with 'burns', otherwise, she had no idea what to do. "These should help and we can get you to a medic afterwards. Someone who understands human bodies a little bit better than me." She paused shortly before she continued.

"And my name is Katherine. But most just call me Kat."

"If this is a contest, am I able to withdraw from participating?" he joked with a small smile. Quinlan joked a lot. It was one of his ways of coping with any given situation.

Quinlan appeared to zone out from time to time. Part of it was handling the pain he was in. Another part of it was what he could feel and hear through the Force. He could feel Obi-Wan. He could feel the presence of other Force users, most unfamiliar. Although there was one presence which seemed familiar and yet he did not know who they were at all. It was strange. For the moment she was gone, he allowed his eyes to slip shut, reaching out to them. Reaching out to both Obi-Wan and the stranger.

When she returned, he opened his eyes. "Kat... Some people call me Quin" he replied with a gentle smile. " A woman named Kytana spoke to me" he began, forcing back a cough. "I reached out when I heard her through the Force. She wishes for you to take me to her. She said she has a make shift temple" he explained before he was unable to speak, breaking into a coughing fit.

Kytana. The name sent a jolt down her spine. It was the wrong moment. Currently, it only served as a reminder for the fear she held for her family. "I know where she lives and I can bring you close to her." She placed her items on the table. "Do you wish to go now or would you prefer me to apply some pastes to your wounds first?" she asked. Her voice stayed gentle. It was his decision.

"You took the time to fetch the items. If you are able to aid, I would appreciate it" he replied. Then a pause.

Something was clearly wrong. Aside from what he felt from her when he arrived, something else was clearly on her mind. She seemed able to control her tones and while she sounded calm and gentle, that was not the feeling he got from being in her presence. "You seem hesitant..." he replied. "I can sense it from you. What troubles you?" he asked.

It was strange. His survival on Kashyyyk had taught him a lot. It had brought him closer to truly understanding the Force, and he felt even more at one with it than before. Even through the haze and fog, the pain and discomfort, he could sense ripples in the Force.

Katherine smiled and opened the jar with the paste. It was a dark and greyish blue with seeds in it. Asgardian make. She had used it once when the phoenix had accidentally brushed her arm. Her wound had been healed within a day but burns healed quickly for her. It was potentially the only time that her dragon lineage came through.

She shook her head at his question. "I am waiting for news which have not come yet. It's just... not a good week." She paused. It wasn't important for him. "This paste is from my father's home. It will help heal the burns. Would you like to apply it or shall I?"

Quinlan nodded, understanding. He did not press any further about her discomfort. "I can apply it. But I will need assistance with my back" he replied simply. He was covered in burn marks. It was a miracle he had been able to survive as long as he had. The lessons he had learned over the years from each Jedi master, their words and wisdom helped guide him and push him forward. He had meditated upon what he had learned from his own Master Tholme to Master Yoda. He had cast out the lessons that the Sith had tried to impart upon him. He would never return to the Dark side again...

"I appreciate your help. As I said, I am in your debt, Kat. Should you need my assistance when I am well, you only need ask" he reassured her.

Katherine's instinct was to deny the debt. It was nothing and there was nothing to return. But then she thought of her family's fight. An extra weapon might be useful in an emergency. You never knew. "Thank you", she simply said. "I will help you once you get to your back. Is there anything else you can need? Water? Food?" He would get plenty once he arrived at the temple but his thirst might be too pressing to wait that long.

Quinlan began to apply the paste to his arms. His limbs shook a little as he did so. While the paste was soothing, it still hurt to move. He had to be calculated with each breath to ensure it didn't make him cough. Images of the jungle flooded his mind for a moment. He could feel the cool rain again... the intensity of the chase. He cast those thoughts aside once more.

"If you can take me to the temple as soon as possible..." he replied. It wasn't as if he was unappreciative of all Kat had done for him. But he wanted to know more about what was going on. Who was that presence? He wondered if Obi-Wan would be there or not. How he wanted to see his old friend. He could only hope that he had truly forgiven him for everything. He could not see his old friend holding on to strong negative feelings, especially after everything they had all gone through.

"She said something about teleportation. I assume you know what she is talking about?" he asked, applying the paste to the burns on his chest.

"I do indeed," Katherine said. She had taken a seat on the table, right next to the assortment of pastes and medicine. A second later, she held out her hand. "Just take my hand and I will get you there." His back was not tended to yet. But his priorities seemed to lie elsewhere and she could not blame him. He was in a strange place, badly hurt and in the mercy of a stranger. Of course, he would prefer to be with his people.

Quinlan paused and looked to her hand first, scanning his gaze up to her face. He looked puzzled. It wasn't like teleportation was a common thing in his corner of the multiverse. Well, not this way at least. When it was mentioned the first time, Quinlan was confused. Why wouldn't he be?

Was this even safe in his current condition? He wasn't going to ask out loud. It was as if he had nothing left to lose. He had managed to survive the battle so far, but their side had lost the war. He was a broken Jedi, lost in another part of the universe. At least he wasn't entirely alone... But he did not know entirely who to trust either. And in a way that included himself.

"Thank you, Kat... Your kindness will not be forgotten" he said, taking a hold of her hand. "May the Force be with you"

It took less than a second. One moment they were in Katherine's living-room, the next they stood in the entrance hall of the temple. "It's fine. It's not a big deal," she finally answered him. "This is your stop, Quinlan." Then her voice picked up. She couldn't help it. Her emotions were still a roller coaster and this was how they expressed themselves. "Broken Jedi delivery service is here. Got a package for Kytana Montrose." Her mind was silly sometimes. She blamed her father. He was an all round receiver for blame.

She smiled at Quinlan with a sheepish look and bit her lip. Her smile wasn't hostile, merely playful. "My genes are corrupted. These things just roll out of my mouth," she added in a whispered explanation.

The shift was so sudden that Quinlan barely had time to blink. In that moment, in that instance, the scenery shifted completely. It was disorientating. He spent a moment in silence, looking around at his new surroundings, taking everything in.

"It is fine" he reassured her with a peaceful smile. What she had said had managed to at least humour him. He knew that she meant no harm by it. But he was also certain there was something on her mind. Something perhaps troubling her. He decided to leave things be.

"Thank you, Kat" he said, bowing his head to her.
