It was a Learjet 60, with tan leather interior, stocked kitchen, enough seats for them to sit singularly and a few couches, and three Jet beds.

The Jet - Dan and Hródolf and open

Dan had claimed the single seat beside the door. He argued that since he was one of the tallest people on the plane, he needed the space in front of him. He was also a bit too tall for the cabin, so moving around meant that he had to duck all the time. He'd explored the tiny plane, discovered where the food and the coffee lived for future reference, and then sat down with his new selection of books. A minimum of eight hours in the air meant a lot of time to sit in the comfy chair with his feet up, working his way through his books.

Hródolf had other plans, it seemed, and the little boy was soon on Dan's lap with his colors and his paper, drawing happily and leaning on Dan's fold-out table. Dan had to help, and wasn't allowed to read so now they were drawing airplanes and people going on holiday. At least, that was the brief, but neither of them were very good at drawing just yet. Hródolf had the excuse of being two years old. Dan was just not that good.

The Jet - Dan and Hródolf and Bryn

Bryn took a seat across the isle, which wasn't very big, rather than crowd Dan farther by taking up the seat next to him. Neglecting the seatbelt because she probably wouldn't stay. She leaned toward the pair an easy smile on her face. There was something very endearing about having her Grandson in Dan's lap.

"Having fun?" There would be no mistake in the light teasing note in her voice, as she spoke somewhat over Hrodolf's head. Sure that the little boy would answer her to, if he had the mind to.

"Nan! [Look! We drawing pictures.] Hair plane, see?" Hródolf blurted out as soon as his Nan was finished talking, his speech a mix of Old Norse and English. Hródolf had drawn his attempt at the plane they were in, a very excellent purple and green scribble. Dan had added wings and a cloud, and he'd been drawing a stickman attached to a rectangle, but Hródolf wanted to show Bryn. Dan lifted his hands just in time to prevent a scrawl that would have ruined everything, the page was lifted up and the little boy clambered down from Dan's legs to go over to Bryn.

"That's, uh, that's my dad. He's holding his suitcase," Dan explained as the page got waved about, having already given up on trying to get Hródolf to hold the picture still, "and I was going to add a coffee as well. You know, to make it more authentic."

"Look, Nan, look. Is Jack. Jack got clothes for vayshun, and toys and candy and books. Books like Dans," Hródolf added, taking his cues from Dan as he held onto Bryn's knee with one hand and shoved the drawing at her. He clearly knew what a suitcase was for.

"I see, you and Dan have done a very good job. Why so good, in fact, that it might be what's keeping this one in the air." There was no harm in playing to her grandsons imagination. She didn't know what she did to deserve this opportunity but she would truly treasure it for all she was worth.

She carefully took the picture that Hródolf was holding out for her. Glancing back at Jack when she did. She saw the other man smile and lift his cup of coffee like he was offering a toast. "It looks just like him." Bryn offered Dan a grin. "Why don't you go show Mama, and Aunt Brenna?"

Norway was not what Brenna had expected. New York had been a nightmare. The station was a metal place. The walls had armour. New York had not been different in that regard. However, the city was crowded. She had never seen so many people at the same place. Even the biggest battles could assess such masses. Her home, however, would be different. Cities no bigger than a couple of houses and greenery all around. Everyone would know each other.

It turned out, Norway, however, was not that different. Brenna had been in shock ever since she had arrived. The mountains reminded her of home so did the sea but the beautiful forests were sprinkled with white houses and lined with streets. There were people everywhere. Even the sea was full of them. The boats were huge and made out of metal. She was unsure how they even moved as there were no paddles. This new world was not Brenna's liking. She had hoped to come home and had found her home destroyed. Why their descendants had treated their country like this, she was unsure.

Brenna longed for a piece of the past and so she had convinced her family and Dan to go to a place with pieces from her time. She was excited to see something familiar. They had ships there. She would be seeing a ship like hers. "Ah, you will see, our ships are way better than the metal caskets!" she said to Dan as they approached the building, forgetting that he had been to her own time as well.

There was no evidence that there was any village there. This was not their world so there weren't any graves, mostly trees, and pasture.
