"I think I can take it, darling," he assured her, a bit snippy with her, although he was actually finding it all strangely enjoyable.
He huffed a bit of a laugh at her mention of the 50s, but other than that he somehow managed to keep a straight face, as if he was laughing at her more than anything else.
"Yeah, you learn all kinds of useless things in school, don't you?" he replied, unsure why he was just continuing to abuse her for no reason. "I mean, it's cute that they fucking humour you and all, but it's a bit of a waste of money, really. Might as well be teaching fucking dogs to drive. Novelty, but pointless really-" he told her. Shit, he was really pushing it, kind of just out of a weird curiosity, to see what she might do. Honestly, he was surprised that she hadn't decided to slap him yet, or at least tell him to fuck off.
"That's right, darling. Good to see you still remember your place after all," he smiled, patronising. Why was he doing this? Was this going to end really badly in a second? "How's that reading lark coming on, then?" Well, might as well push a little harder.
