Re: Shepard and Darcy
Darcy gave her a little nod as she spoke again, considering what she had to say and turning it over in his mind. She was admitting to a hell of a lot more than he'd ever expected. "Well, I understand. It can't be undone, but I am equally happy to move past it," he told her sincerely. It was not often that Darcy was softened enough to give out second chances, but he felt that he owed it to Ashley- or that they owed it to Ashley. It would make for an even happier marriage if his relationship with her mother could be repaired somewhat.
He gave a genuine smile at the mention of the twins. "That's good. I'm sure that Ashley has already mentioned it, but you are very welcome to stay as long as you wish," he told her. She wouldn't want to wake the children to take them back through the door once the party was over, after all. "She has been here since I was but four years old. I'm not sure how I would've survived without her after..." he followed her gaze, deciding not to mention his parents. It didn't usually sting so much, but of course it was bound to on his wedding day.
He nodded a little, and bit as his lower lip for a moment before he decided to speak again. "Of course, and I am sure that she knows that to be true. I am... I do appreciate all that you have said, very much. But I would urge you to speak with Ashley as well. I'm sure that you intend to at some point, but... I know that it would mean a lot," he told her. He would leave the rest to Ashley, allow her to express however much or little she wanted of her own feelings on the matter.
Well, that certainly took him by surprise. She was full of surprises, so it seemed. He was sure that he would never know what to make of her. "Is it terribly different from the kind of gun I would be used to?" he asked. He hadn't had a real look at it since he'd been back in the right time, but from the look of her ship, he imagined it would be vastly different. "Mm, they certainly are," he nodded. "Do you want to go and find out what exactly?"
