Re: Shepard and Darcy
Darcy thought that it had been a little more than just not appearing to like him - she had seemed to actively hate him, to the point that she wanted to physically harm him, but perhaps alcohol heightened those things. And grief. Whatever it had been, he wasn't about to bring it up again now.
When it seemed like she was going to say something more about Ashley's behaviour, Darcy felt a slight tension, but it quickly passed again. "I'm glad to hear it. I know how difficult grief can be," he said softly. Ironically, given what she'd just said about alcohol, he suddenly really wished he'd been holding a glass of wine.
She started to talk about the wedding, and Darcy couldn't help but smile a little. Especially at the for some unknown reason, which made him want to ask if she didn't approve of the house, but then he knew he was being deliberately obtuse, so he kept it zipped. "Yes, I feel incredibly fortunate. We have managed to have both of our families here, it is quite the achievement, all things considered," he smiled a little. The time difference alone was ridiculous, never mind anything else. "Of course. It suits you very well, you'd never know that you were not used to the style," he assured her - but then he frowned just a little. "I had rather thought it was more for Ashley than for me," he pointed out.
Darcy nodded - he hadn't seen much of it personally, but he had read back in his own messages so he knew how things had been looking for a while there. "Oh, I still have your gun, by the way. It's safely stored, back on the station," he realised he'd forgotten to mention it to her again since going back to his regular age. "Well, it looks like he might be having a similar conversation over there," Darcy realised. Their body language had changed, and Crawley did seem to be talking about something that was making him a little flushed and happy.
