Cuddy moved to kneel behind her patient's head. She put the collar on him as Rob and Jake worked on the animals, and then moved the backboard as close to him as she could. As she worked, she spoke to Darcy, describing her actions in case he had any level of awareness. She looked up at Rob when he returned.
"I need to move him onto the board. It's a two person job." She replied. "I need to maintain in-line stabilization." As soon as she said it, she realized it might have been too technical. "I need to hold his head." She explained. "I want you you to kneel beside him and put one hand on his shoulder, and the other on his hip. Then I'll count to three. On three, we'll slowly and gently roll him onto his side. Then I'll look at his back, check to see if he's bleeding or has any other hidden injuries. Then we'll gently and slowly roll him onto the backboard."
