Brenna just stared at the pair. The woman's words did not sound sane but there was nothing sane about this encounter. She stared as the man nodded. She stared as the bonds of seaweed slithered back into the lake. Her eyes fixated on the woman who claimed to be her mother.
"This is death then," she breathed. She was frightened now. This was not what she had expected. Where were the halls filled with meads and song? Where the warriors preparing for their last fight against Loki's army? She sank into the water, suddenly shivering and weak. She had not wanted to die.
