Gravity and lights had come back on to the wheel earlier in the day, and JR was both glad and annoyed at the same time. Gliding along weightless would have been so much easier, but on the other hand gravity was fundamental for humans (Elyssa could wax poetic about life under artificial gravity all she wanted, artificial gravity was still gravity) and the last thing JR wanted was for anything to hurt the twins.
Two weeks before JR'd been the supportive male partner trying to be attentive to Elyssa's every want and desire, now the roles were reversed with Elyssa being the supportive one. While JR devoutly hoped they'd switch back any day now, part of him worried he'd get to undergo the entire experience as there were barely two months left to go and twins often came early. The idea of giving birth was, frankly, terrifying and he tried not to think about it.
JR would happily go back to the worst days of Guadalcanal or Peleliu than endure that painful process. He'd heard enough horror stories from his mother than to want that experience, thank you very much.
A kick from the twins roused him out of his woolgathering and he realized he'd reached his destination. While supposed to take it easy, JR couldn't bring himself to just lie on the couch all day and needed to get at least some exercise. A walk to the viewing gallery while Elyssa looked for the Normandy seemed a perfect way to do just that.
He stepped through the hatch to the gallery and stopped short at the sight through the 'glass'. The outer wheels on this side of the station stretched out in the distance, gleaming in the sunlight and reminding JR just how large this space station was. The place was meant to house millions, clearly. As impressive as the station was it paled in comparison to the brilliant orange and red hued clouds of the massive gas giant they orbited above. He wasn't sure how long he stood there, staring in awe, before he realized he wasn't alone.
