Who: Sunila Sully and Blue Jake.
What: Arriving.
Where: Starting in the forest.
Warnings: Possible mentions of the bad future.
Status: Closed.

Sunila had been running through the forest when instead of the normal ground, she felt snow crunching beneath her feet. She tugged the hood of her Jedi robes closer around her head as she surveyed the scene. There were more trees than she had seen in a long time, and even more surprising, there was no spire high in the distance. She couldn't sense that ever present evil watching her either. She wouldn't let her guard down though and when she heard the smallest noise behind her, she spun around with her light saber in hand.

"Yeah. I think I'm happy not knowing," Jake admitted. If his oldest self or Sunila ever wanted to talk about it, he'd listen, but he wasn't going to go searching for bad news. And he probably wasn't who either of them would want to confide in, anyway, not when they had each other.

"He's good. And yeah, he made it through. He got a couple of knocks, but I reckon we all did," Jake replied, absently rubbing at the back of his neck and then the shoulder where he'd been bitten. His bruises had mostly faded by now, but the marks from the bite were still visible.

Banshee could be heard in the distance now, screeching at something. It wasn't long before a big black bird flew down to land between Jake and Sunila, cawing at both of them, and then Banshee flew overhead before looping back and landing on a fallen tree close by. "I know that bird," Jake muttered to himself, head tilted as he wondered how.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here for that." Sunila murmured, annoyed at the island for bringing her back in time to enjoy the benefits of the man being gone, without having been able to fight for it. It made her feel lazy somehow. "I'll have to check on everyone." She did trust that her mother had protected Willow, everyone else she worried about.

Sunila took a cautious step towards the bird, not wanting to scare it away. She knew that if it was dangerous, Jake would have warned her. "Is he or she one of your brother's pets? They had so many in this time from what I remember." Mostly dogs and cats, but they had a dodo too, anything was possible. She glanced over at Banshee and gave him a smile. "Hello. I remember you too."

"You kinda were here," Jake pointed out with a small smile, then headed towards Banshee and the black bird. "Your Jake told me you fought a land-octopus thing together, and collapsed a street in on itself. So that ain't bad going, right?"

The bird cawed again, and flitted up to a nearby branch but didn't fly off. "Tommy's got loads of pets now. New ones from Kat. But he ain't one of them. I remember him, but I got no idea why," he explained, then walked over to Banshee and made Tsaheylu with the ikran. He took a moment to scratch at a couple of Banshee's itches while explaining about Suni. "You want to come say hi before we're up in the air? He's complaining about a lack of attention for some reason," he said over his shoulder to his tsmuke.

Sunila chuckled and followed him. "It doesn't sound too good for the road or any pipes or cables under it. But at least Jake and I got to kick some butt."

"Oh, wow. Kat had wolves and other big creatures if I remember right. How's Izzy coping with all of that?" She did find it amusing that Tom would find ways to make the Sully home even more crowded. She looked over at the bird again. "Are there birds like that on Pandora? Would you know him from there?" The bird would hardly be from Jake's earth, not from what she'd heard about his world. She made her way over to Banshee and gave the ikran a grin. "Were you feeling ignored or is Jake teasing me?"

"I think Izzy's put her foot down. Whether Tommy's aware of that or not, I got no idea," Jake told her with a quick laugh, before shaking his head. "There's nothing like that on Pandora."

Banshee asked why he was thinking of home, so Jake told him, and then Jake blinked as Banshee showed him memories of playing with the black bird, which in turn set off memories of his own. "uh. Apparently at one point, I was the Norse god Tyr, and had birds following me. And he," he said, pointing at the bird he now knew to be a raven, "was smart enough to not get eaten by this one, and then they made friends. Huh. Cool."

Banshee gave a quieter-than-usual screech as Suni approached, then held out a wing. "He says it's itchy near the claw," Jake translated, with an obvious eye-roll at how demanding his ikran was being.

"I'm sure she'll make him aware of it." Sunila said with an amused grin. "Wives have a way of making our feelings known, without saying a word." Of course, it was easy with her and her Jake, thanks to the force.

"Oh, the god thing. I was lucky; I didn't get a god in my head. I think it's because I was a kid at the time." Sunila commented. It felt like so very long ago to her. She could remember her father's leg not hurting for a while, but the rest of it had been bad. "He must have very good taste in friends."

She chuckled. "It is, is it? I suppose you want a scratch. Is this payment for the ride?" She sent a soothing sense through the force and ran her fingers along his wing, until she found the itchy spot, giving it a scratch. "You know rubbing your wing on a tree might help when you're alone."

Jake nodded, but said nothing as he thought about how his Mate would have let him know when he fucked up. He tried hard not to let people know how much he missed Neytiri, but times like this when he'd been out looking for her palulukan... Best not to think about it. He looked round at Sunila when she mentioned being a kid, though. "Oh, shit. I remember you as a kid now," he said, "you liked... You liked the blue raspberry stuff which is why I asked Tommy if we could grow blue raspberries. Huh. Cool."

Banshee made a very happy noise as he got scratches and then nudged his Na'vi in the side. "Ah, get off," Jake muttered, fixing his renten into place, then replied for his ikran again. "He says you have good fingers. Better than trees."

Sunila chuckled. "I even gave you blue raspberry children's drinks once. Do you remember that too? I thought you'd like it better than the blue alcoholic stuff." She sighed. "I miss those days of going into the stores and being able to find whatever I wanted." It had been hard to find anything useful for years, let alone luxuries like gifts.

"Thank you." Sunila said to Banshee. "They're like my Dad's fingers. Good for music and performing surgery too." She hadn't had a guitar or piano to play in years. They'd never run out of wounded in need of help though.

He frowned as he tried to remember, but it was beyond him for now. "No... Sorry, I don't. I went home for a couple've months... well, it was years for me, but it was only two months here, and when I was brought back, I couldn't remember anything about here. I've started getting memories back, but... not everything's there yet."

Jake checked the harnesses on Banshee while Suni spoke to the ikran, making sure they were tight enough, and then climbed on. "We're gonna go to the Jedi Temple, Banshee. You remember that place?" Banshee did, and sent Jake a memory of watching his tawtute self climbing up the outside of it. "Does your Jake still climb the Temple? Or does he just jump up and down it instead?" Jake asked Suni, and then held his hand out to her so she could climb onto Banshee's back.

"Perhaps I can help you get your memories back. With the force. Or simply by taking you to places you liked, showing you what you did." Sunila would have to be careful not to remind him of what isn't on the island anymore. She didn't want to bring him sadness. "It might trigger the memories."

"My Jake can leap over the temple now. Climbing can be a bit trickier with the leg braces, but he manages." She took his hand and used his help to climb up onto Banshee. "Alex climbs it. And mountains and the trees that are left. He's a lot like his dad. The two of them were often out on adventures, and when things became bad, they became our lookouts and gatherers."

"If you can get my memories back, that'd be awesome. I hate when... well, what just happened, happens," he said, "and I haven't smacked my head to explain the lack of memories, y'know?"

"Alex sounds pretty cool. What about Greg?" he wondered, "does he bounce all round the place too?" Once Suni was settled, he let her know when Banshee was about to take off, and the ikran quickly climbed into the sky. It was easy enough to spot the city - the lights from the buildings that had their electricity back stood out easily against the never-changing gloom - and Banshee was quickly winging his way towards it. Stark Tower was a handy enough navigational point, and Jake was able to send them in the right direction almost instantly. "I'd give you a tour, or go the long way to the Temple if the light was better and you could actually see anything!" he said, speaking loud enough that he'd be heard over the wind.

"I know. It must be the island." Sunila offered as an explanation. "Just don't try smacking your head to get the memories back. That only works in cartoons and maybe on Gilligan's island." She joked.

"They're both very cool. Greg can climb too, but doesn't spend as much time at as his brother. He's more analytical than Alex, spends more of his time figuring out how to grow food, coming up with new strategies for battle, that kind of thing. I suppose he's more like my dad or your Tom." Sunila reached out through the force, keeping herself connected to the island as they went higher. It was so dark and quiet without the fighting below. She needed to be sure the island was still there. "Is there a plan to fix things?" She asked. He had mentioned the sun being broken, but it felt as if the island itself was broken. Stuck in the dark. "The island can't last without light and heat."
