Steve didn't know what to think. The way Bucky was talking, keeping things secret while trying to reassure him but not seeming particularly urgent wasn't the most promising thing. His mind kept going to worse and worse things. Was it the kids? Had someone new shown up that wanted to hurt them? Was there something going on in Bucky's mind? He had a million questions and every one felt like it'd have a worse and worse outcome.
He finished what he needed to on the farm and made his way home as quickly as he could, stopping for just a minute to check on the chickens in the yard and make sure the cat and dog had food and water on the porch before he started in to the house proper, slipping out of his work boots before he got to the kitchen. He saw the bags on the counter and stroller sitting next to the table so he knew Peggy must be home already. He checked the bags and put away anything he thought should be cold and left the rest for later, he needed to find the others. He stood quietly for a few moments and heard Peggy upstairs in the kids rooms and then Bucky furiously pacing in the living room, deciding to follow the latter.
"Buck, what's going on?" he asked, stepping in to the room and in front of his husband, if only to stop him from pacing for a few seconds.
