Who: Dean
Where: The Park
What: Father son bonding, and adorableness.
When: mid afternoon
Rating: TBD
Open: Yes
Status: on going

Dean had a blanket spread out on the grass, along with a few big pillows that he used for 'bumpers' to keep Jack from going anywhere. They were well shaded beneath the arms of a big broad live oak.

Currently Jack was squealing up a storm, amused that Dean was doing the exact same thing as he was doing. And adoring the little boy's laughter, and needing to work off all the pie he'd had for the past week, he was ready to let his son wear him out.

Because very time Jack would push up, Dean would. When he flopped back down on the blanket Dean would flop down on his stomach. When the baby flailed his arms and legs while he was on his stomach, Dean followed up. Which was exactly what made Jack squeal more.

Dean was almost in tears he was laughing so hard.

What the world didn't know, was that while Papa bear looked happy and unaware, he was alert, armed, and ready if there was any trouble.

The machine Dean mentioned grew to a terrible construct in Thomas' mind. A monstrosity of engineering that through carefully managed thermal insulation could keep the heat inside and not let it escape. "I am not sure our kitchen has adequate space for such a contrivance." Let alone did he even know what an air conditioner might be. Least of all a portable one.

Dean chuckled softly, bouncing the little boy in his lap just a little, to be sure that he was secure in his lap. "You do, trust me, most of them are about yay big." He made an adequately sized box shape with his hands. "I mean you can get bigger ones, but it's just you and her, so I don't see you needing an industrial sized one. I'd offer to get an electric stove, but the food from that wood burner tasted so much better." Even if the heat was harder to control. He might have fantasized about a pie coming out of their oven.

The size Thomas was shown was even smaller than that of a regular oven. Needless to say the curiosity of the inventor was sparked and started to flame within his mind. "I - it..." He stopped, composing his ineloquent tongue. "That is remarkable? What lies behind the mechanism?"

"I actually don't know the science of it. But I know they work like a charm, because I lived off of one, and a hot plate, for the first twenty years of my life." If he didn't count the four before his mother was killed. "I'll get you two. One that you can tinker with, and one that you leave in the kitchen." Dean had found himself a little amused the way Thomas had tripped up by the idea of something so small doing so much. If only he knew what was behind the EMF reader he'd given him, and why that worked. "I think it has something to do with radio waves or something like that, though." And with Jack in his lap he was feeling more than a little paternal.

Thomas smiled. The tinkering he had done over the last few weeks had all been very practical. The idea of dissembling an apparatus with curiosity as his only motivation was endearing.

He had heard of radio waves but never quite comprehended the concept, let alone understood now how it could possibly heat something. "That is greatly appreciated. I cannot say I have worked with radio waves before," he said.

Dean pulled his phone out of his pocket and tapped the side of it. "This uses them, if you use the CB. I think. I know the old ones used to." Though he wasn't sure one of the old CB radios he'd seen around would work in this place. He'd have to try one out.

"If Sam was here he'd be able to tell you all the ins and outs." There were times that he missed his sasquatch of a brother. But with the Sams that had been there, it was hard to keep that with that train of thought too long.
