Who: Steve and Steve (this amuses me)
Where: The cottage
What: Some advice
When: After lunch
Rating: High due to topic of discussion
Open: maybe to older Bucky
Status: Ongoing
Lunch was finished and the kids were down for their naps. Mouse had agreed to make herself scarce and to listen for the kids if they needed anything. Steve was still sitting at the table in the kitchen, sipping a glass of water and fidgeting a little bit. He was nervous but he knew it was better to talk to someone than to speculate or do "research" on the internet. He drummed his fingers on the table as he tried to get his thoughts together.

It had taken a little bit of doing but they'd managed to get all three of the kids down for their naps, Steve deciding to put Mouse and Stevie in the same bed, wondering if maybe she'd have an easier time sleeping through Luke waking up if she had Stevie there.

Once they were both asleep, he checked on Bucky who was watching Luke and when he knew everything was alright he went back to the kitchen. "Did you want any sandwiches?" he asked Steve as he stepped in to the room. There was still a decent stack of the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the counter but he was already hungry enough that he'd eat a few more, so they wouldn't go to waste either way.

Steve looked over at the stack of sandwiches and scratched behind his ear. "Maybe just one." He nodded. Even though he'd eaten lunch, he was still kind of hungry.

Steve pulled two plates out of the cabinet and set one sandwich on the first, three on the second. He set the first in front of the other man before sitting down across from him with his own, taking the baby monitor from his belt and setting it next to his plate just in case. "What'd you need help with?" he asked, ripping off some of the first sandwich.

Steve picked up the sandwich and took a bite, chewing it slowly. "It's not so much help as...maybe advice." He blushed a little bit. "I just....you know about my stuff..." He motioned toward his chest. "And you've got experience in certain areas that my dad doesn't...." As he talked, he blushed more.

Steve's eyebrows furrowed a little bit. He couldn't imagine much that he'd know about that his younger self wouldn't. At least not anything that'd be useful on the island. Or to a teenager either. "Sure, I can't promise to know everything but I can try."

Steve took another bite of sandwich and then took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I um....it's about sex." He bit his lip.

"Oh." Steve's eyes went a little bit wide for just a moment, "Okay. I uh, I get why you wouldn't want to talk to your dad about that." he joked a little bit, doing his best to keep things light.

Steve cleared his throat. "And....he's only ever been with women so...." he scratched behind his hear. "Can't exactly give me the best kind of advice in this case."

It was a little unexpected but he couldn't say it was total surprise, so Steve just nodded slowly. "Got it, what uh... what'd you need help with?" he asked, not wanting to assume and offer more or less that what the younger man was actually looking for.

Steve started to pick at the crust of his sandwich, taking tiny little pieces off. "I've already been to see Dr. Banner and he's running tests and stuff but.....basically." He cleared his throat. "I know that the island's put you back in my condition every now and then, and I know that Bucky switched with dad that one time. I guess just...." He shrugged. "How did you guys....do that without major issues?"

Steve thought for a moment, "Slowly." he eventually told him, "It seemed to...bother me less, when things built up slower. I know it doesn't really sound all that great but it can be. And I mean," Steve was blushing a little bit now, "if there was that build up I was able to handle more when things really...y'know, got going."

Steve nodded. "Did you ever have an asthma attack during?" That was what he was afraid of more than anything else. "Bucky says that it won't be a turn off...that we'll just take a break and stuff unless it's bad enough I have to go to the hospital but....I don't know."

"Yeah." Steve actually chuckled a little, "We did stop but, y'know, it wasn't the worst thing that could've happened. And it wasn't cause he lost interest. I just didn't feel so great after." He didn't want to make Steve worry any more than he needed but didn't want to lie to him either. "It doesn't always have to be about an end game, y'know? I didn't feel up to it so we lay there and he rubbed my chest and it was just nice to be close. Plus, there are a million and one things that could uh, interrupt something like that, sometimes it just happens."

"We've kind of fooled around a little bit but it wasn't much." He scratched behind his ear again. "Do you ever get lightheaded just kissing him sometimes? Because that happened and Stevie says that might not have anything to do with my health problems." He tilted his head a bit. He was starting to get a little more comfortable asking the questions.

Steve chuckled softly. "He's not entirely wrong there. You just gotta be a little more careful, if it lasts more than a second or two stop to take a breath." It was a little strange for Steve but he had to admit, the whole thing wasn't going as awfully as he expected. He hadn't thought about having any conversation like this for quite a few years with Stevie but it wasn't as hard as he would have thought. "And just don't forget, this is Bucky. He likes to be the joker and act like he doesn't care about anything but you and I both know he's far deeper than that and he's gonna care about you a lot more than he cares about kissing or sex."

"He told me to be honest with him. If I need to stop, let him know." He nodded. "Of course he also offered to go through the Boston door when it was still open and stock up on all of my medications just to make sure we don't run out." Steve chuckled a little. He took a bite of his sandwich, getting a little bit of an appetite again. "Bucky probably knows the signs better than I do, since he can see stuff that I don't necessarily realize is going on."

"He's right there. It'll be so much easier for both of you if he can trust that'll you'll tell him if something is wrong rather than him worrying all the time." Steve was sure the younger Bucky would worry at least a little bit anyway, but it could be less. "Yeah, but will you listen if he tells you to slow down?" Steve teased a little, knowing very well how the stubborn side they all had could be.

Steve sighed and made a face. "I can try...." He chuckled. "He made me promise not to be so stubborn. I told him I couldn't promise that so much." He wrinkled his nose. "At least I know he won't say anything just because he's worried. He'll only say something if he thinks something's really wrong."

"It's not easy, but sometimes you just have to try and let go a little. I still have to try and keep it in mind sometimes too." Steve admit between bites of his sandwich, "You don't have to change who you are, he already loves you for that, just, if he's trying to help, it doesn't hurt to take a step back and see if it's something you can let go."

Steve should have figured the question was coming. "It...goes back to that slow thing. It doesn't have to, but you really need to take your time to...get ready first. If you try to rush, it'll hurt."

Steve started to pick at an imaginary spot on the table. "I feel kind of stupid." He cleared his throat. "I mean....it's Bucky. He's been a big part of my life for pretty much all of it. He's my best friend. How do I know that things aren't just getting confused in my head?" Having a crush on someone was definitely different from the real thing.

"I think you know." Steve smiled a little, "It's about how you feel when you're with him y'know? And I don't mean just in bed, but anytime. When you do that stupid, every day stuff but you know you don't really want to do it with anyone else and you don't want to do it without him next to you. You just have to trust your gut."

"So tell him." Steve told him with a smile. "Or just keep climbing in with him. It might take a while but he'll catch on eventually." Steve grabbed the plates and stood up to put them in the sink. He opened one of the cabinets and pulled out a tin of chocolate chip cookies. They were a bit oddly shaped and a few of them might be a little crunchy on one side because he forgot about the hot spot in the back of the oven but he still thought they were pretty good. He set them on the table between the two of them before picking one up for himself, "I'm willing to bet he likes it better that way too."

Steve reached into the tin and took one of the cookies, nibbling on it a little bit. "You ever get that feeling like...your brain is completely useless even with just a quick brush of the hand?" He smiled a little. "One time, I was drawing and he just touched my shoulder as he moved past me. I had to stop for a minute." He chuckled.

"Thanks." Rather than the sips he was taking, Steve actually took a long drink of water this time. "When there's just a couple of dishes, it's easy to forget." He nodded. "It's kind of funny. Bucky said he was looking forward to having his own room but with me spending most nights in his room he technically doesn't." He grinned.

"I imagine it's a little different than when it's your younger siblings." Steve grinned and went in for another cookie, breaking it up in to pieces as he ate one at a time. An old habit from having to make his meals last as long as he could during the war when he wasn't sure when his next would come and his belly always seemed to be needing more. "Plus you guys have a whole apartment, oughta be enough space that he can find some if he needs it."

"Oh, uh, yeah." he sipped from his glass and went for another cookie. "There was some trouble with my tonsils when I was a kid but they didn't take them out as much back then. And we wouldn't have been able to afford it even if they wanted to so they did some other treatment that made it...good enough. Then the serum seemed to fix it." he shrugged a little bit, "I don't think there was ever anything with my appendix though."
