So what we're doing here, although it's called the Fic Challenge, is just a bit of fun.  We have come up with some ideas below and we want you to add your own and expand on them.  You don't HAVE to write comment fic (although it is entirely encouraged and we may in fact have a prize waiting for eager participants!) - it could be as simple as "OMG, imagine Dean has to actually negotiate with Crowley for Sam's soul" and then someone comes back with "LOL and they end up playing draughts".  The aim here is the free exchange of ideas and hypotheticals, to let our minds and imaginations wander and then see what happens.  The strangest conversations can lead to some epic fiction so lets just play around in this mêlée and see what happens.

The Rules:

The first rule of fic challenge is....YOU MUST TALK ABOUT FIC CHALLENGE (*giggles* I couldn't resist, sorry)

There are two kinds of prompts below, shippy and non-shippy.  This is just how my brain arranged them, there's nothing to say you can't mix them about or try different things and you don't have to make your prompts in the same way. 

If you feel like talking at length about anything please do so but put your prompt in bold in case there are people who don't want to hear exactly how you came to the idea.

No RPS!  Although personally Wincest squicks us out like crazy it's too canon to ban.  But this is my fic asylum so I can squarely put my foot down and say No RPS.  Do not make me lecture you on why.

So grab your fishing rod, pick up a prompt and get to writing – you never know, one might have a lucky number written on its belly!

Non-Shippy Prompts

Happy Families

Sam & Dean are just two regular, well-adjusted brothers – they have their own likes and interests and meet for friendly, supportive chats. 

Don’t you just love crack fic!  Explore this idea as deliriously as you like or take a big old gulp of canon and show us just why this isn’t the case.

Brotherly Love

*immediately ducks Wincest* Nope, this didn’t get lost on its way to the shippy section – this is about actual brotherly love.  We’ve had plenty of insight into Sam and Dean’s relationships over the years but how do the others get along?  Do demons have friends and allegiances?  How does Castiel get on with other angels?  What does one shape-shifter say to another?

Pick any of the sideline characters and consider their family, their connections to the world and to each other.

I know I’ve changed on the outside…

The life of a demon is not an easy one, jumping from one vessel to the next – getting used to the new bodies.

Consider the process of possession from a demon’s point of view.

Tricking Myself

So canon likes to turn around on itself and flip things about and The Trickster turned out to The Archangel Gabriel. 

Try a little revisionist history and consider what The Trickster really thought when he first met Sam and Dean.

If Ever I Would Leave You

Saying goodbye isn’t easy, then again - sometimes it’s too easy.

Write about one of the times little Sam ran away, or how one of the guys leaves.  Or explain how it’s never going to happen, co-dependent relationship and all…

It’s about time someone put all this down in a single, handy reference book for hunters.

Sign of the Cross
