When everyone said this place was weird, this was definitely not what I had in mind.

Can you get delivery to these apartments? I've been trying not to go out like this but apparently I'm starving and that's still so weird

Thank you, thank you. Do you have any particular type of food you like over another? Anything you've wanted to try? I can help you find a restaurant that does delivery.

I've always wanted to try Indian? All the spices and everything make it sound really good.

Indian is good. Do you have a spice level preference? Or is this a sampling situation?

Probably sampling? Mom didn't exactly make a ton of spicy food, but I want to try it all.

You're going to want naan no matter what. It's bread. It's goods. It can be used like a spoon/fork (there's a lot of eating with your hands, but you don't have to). Butter chicken is a good place to start for not hot spices. Anything tikka masala will have some spiciness to it. Chicken tikka masala is what I'd recommend. (Tikka is just chunks/diced and masala is the sauce that's got the kick to it.) Tandoori is just something made in a tandoor (like tandoori chicken). Samosas can have a lot of different fillings, so they're actually good for trying Indian food if you don't know where to start. If you're not adventurous about meat, try chicken or vegetarian. Most people know what chicken is supposed to taste like, and it's got enough blandness in it to be a blank palette for flavors without being tofu, which is also an option in general. Saffron chicken is also good if you want to slowly wade into the spicy stuff. Chana masala is a vegetarian dish with chickpeas that's got some spiciness and a little sourness to it. For drinks, chai and lassi are good. Lassi is really good if you've got some spicy food so it can help take the edge off. And do not drink water if you eat spicy food. Milk and bread are your friends. Water is your enemy.

Your best bet is to have some kind of Indian take-out party. Invite your roommates or whoever, order a bunch of stuff, then try it all. And the people you invited can help you eat so you're not wasting all the food, and you can keep the leftovers of what you liked for later so you don't have to go out if you don't want to.

Yeah, I don't know about actual parties but

That all sounds AMAZING. I've had chai. It was probably watered down or even powdered chai, it was just at the local donut place, but it was pretty good. Their coffee and hot cocoa were way better. But I would definitely try the lassi.

There's just so much stuff to try.
