Sometimes I feel guilty, like I'm betraying other disabled kids. I can yell "Shazam" and become someone totally abled and enjoy everything at camp. That's not fair. Maybe I shouldn't use it for selfish things.

So, here is the break kid--- Selfish really only applies when you are putting your wants above someones needs. Like… if I had an extra donut, and someone hadn’t had food in a day, but I decided that I would rather save my donut in case I wanted it later. That is selfish, and to be honest, might be something I would do.

You wanting to enjoy yourself at this camp… is it putting anyone else at a disadvantage? Is it going to hurt anyone else because you are having fun? Is it going to cause anyone any undue stress or emotional pain?

The answer is no, it really isnt.

And in that case, using your powers to have fun… that isn’t a selfish thing at all.

And even if it were selfish (which again, it is decidedly not), I say that you’re a kid, enjoy your life. But I’m a terrible role model.

this is some thing you have to decide on your own. we can tell you our opinons but its your choice you know? but you coud also enjoy it both ways? do every thing you can with out being shazam freddy & if theres some thing you want to try you can decide then how you want to handle it? what ever you decide i suport you. & if that means we sit on the docks all week & do the arts & crafts & have a slow chill week im good with that. its your camp expereince to & you shoud enjoy it how ever you want.

Sweetie, I don't think that's a selfish thing. You're very lucky to be able to, but you also acknowledge that and that's pretty great. I think a lot of people in your position wouldn't even consider the privilege that they have.
