It's crazy thinking it's been a whole year. (I know the real anniversary isn't for two more days, but we're pretending.) I still have this really distinct memory of being on a scouting run in the air over New York and then suddenly feeling like I'd been turned inside out, barely able to see through all the rain and thinking, "Oh god. Who tried to fix it?"

And then realising over the next couple of days that everyone whose name I recognised knew each other from some other universe and for some reason finding it hilarious when Tony asked what I thought would happen if universes crashed into each other. (I don't think I actually answered, but if anyone's curious - they implode. It's not great.) It was a very weird time to be in my head. Or outside it, apparently. I remember Bucky thinking I was messing with him and people generally just being really confused.

Anyway, good times. As fun as the whole carnival thing's been, I'm going to go toast to our surreal new existence.

I can't imagine being here that long.

It's not so bad for me because there isn't any real alternative.

Have you really been here that long? I can't even picture being somewhere that long.

Yeah. I was here first day, there's still about half a dozen of us.

That's just crazy. Are you doing alright though?

Right now? It's been a bit up and down but it's not like I come from some magical utopia, so this place has its advantages. Kind of weird to get used to the different expectations people have of each other is the biggest thing. Mostly they're nicer.

I don't know of anyone that comes from a magical utophia. Me and Murphy sure didn't, that's for sure. This place is different, I think, for all of us. Though, I have noticed the niceness.

Some places seem better than others, at least. The niceness can be a bit disconcerting though. It's not like we didn't have friends, but outside of that, strangers and even acquaintances it could get dicey to take things at face value.

Sometimes it can be. And, yes, things can be dicey. Especially the niceness. Which begs too differ, does that mean myself and Murphy shouldn't trust you, doc?

I usually say people don't have to trust me if they don't want to. Most of us don't really know each other, even the only other person from my world is someone I never met. There's a bunch who know a different version of me but that doesn't always mean much either. It's easier for work if people trust me, but I get why they wouldn't.

There's a few trust issues for a reason, but you haven't given us a reason not to trust you. Yet. Though, that must be really hard on you. To have other people from your world that you've never met or people that have known different versions of you. That's a bit messed up.

It's very weird. Apparently he's some kind of therapist, which I am not *remotely* qualified for.

Don't think anyone wants me giving that kind of support. I know neurology, not psychology.

That's a relief, at least. Means you can keep doing what you enjoy, and not worry about others trying to get you to do something that isn't you.

I think most people have picked up that I'm happier in a lab.

My room got turned into a makeshift lab, keeps me closer to him. Now it's just a matter of finding things to do and not getting bored.
