Graduation's next month and then I have to get a job when I kind of just always figured I'd be helping out at the school until it killed me. Which the last two years have proven it might. Last year, weird things started showing up at school. Things no one thinks of as real. Dragons. Gargoyles. Unicorns. These really gross mind-control slugs... It turned out they were being spat out by this creature called Malivore, a golem that had been created to absorb monsters and in doing so make us all forget they'd ever existed. It had been dissolved into a pit and was trying to get these artifacts from the school so that it could be free itself and walk around again.

Right before I showed up here, it got the last artifact. It was going to destroy everything. And the only thing that could stop it was the thing that had created it—the blood of a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire. Me.

I didn't know what else to do, not when time was running out. And it seemed to make such perfect sense. I shouldn't have been born in the first place and here was something that could only be destroyed if I sacrificed myself for everyone else. A reason for me to exist. No one would have remembered me to miss me. So... I jumped into the pit. And everyone forgot about me. And then it turned out that I messed that up, too, because I haven't activated my vampire side. It spit me back out, but no one knew who I was until Josie figured out how to bring back everyone's memories and Aunt Freya helped.

I have lived with a hole in my heart where my parents should be. Every milestone in my life is going to make that hole a little deeper. I couldn't stand the thought of getting close to anyone in any capacity because I knew they'd leave me, too. ~~Does that sound like someone who's happy?~~

I've been told I'm the reason you haven't found peace. I thought if I could fulfill this purpose, maybe you would. I'd get to do my atoning.
