I am Tony Stark. My reality is set on earth, specifically New York City, in 2018. I am what some would call a "superhero" although I have no powers. I have my brain and an armored suit. Money helped, sure, but I built my first suit while captured by terrorists in an underdeveloped country. I was not alone. Dr. Yinsen saved my life by implanting an electromagnet in my chest. Kids? It is not as scary as it sounds. I promise. Long story short, Dr. Yinsen scarified himself for me. He said he wanted to be with his family and told me to do something good in the world.

I learned my company, Stark Industries, was involved in underhanded dealings with terrorists. I had no idea. I knew we sold weapons, but I thought we were protecting innocent people. My ignorance is not an excuse, but it is a lesson. I built the suit to escape terrorists, but Iron Man was born to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. I turned my company over to the intelligent and gorgeous Pepper Potts because I knew she'd never betray me and she'd work to make sure Stark Industries did good instead of evil.

Nick Fury approached me one day. I told him I wasn't a team player; I told him I wasn't interested in his super secret boyband. Funnily enough, he was already evaluating my mental state through Natasha-- through a third party so I understand distrust and suspicion. My father's best friend betrayed me within my own company and then Fury, knowing my father was a co-founder of SHIELD, studied me like some freak show. That's right, my father was a founder of SHIELD. I had no idea. For a smart guy, I sure was naive.

I don't trust the government and I sure as hell don't trust a "jubilant entity," but things aren't so black and white, are they? I agreed to join the Avengers Initiative not because I trusted Nick Fury or because I trusted every single SHIELD member. I joined because it gave me the chance to do something good in the world. The Avengers? We were a mess, but we somehow managed to put that aside and do something important together.

I don't know Daisy or Lincoln well. I don't know everything that happened in their world. I don't know everything that happened in the various realities here. I know different people and different names and different events impact us all differently. The only thing I do know? The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Still, does that mean we don't at least try? Anything can be tainted, but evil only wins when good people look the other way. SHIELD was infiltrated, but that does not mean the organization didn't start with good intent and it sure as hell doesn't mean it can't do good if given a chance. But everyone has to learn from each other. Listen to each other.

That's it. I wanted to be the one to tell my story with SHIELD rather than have it used against me have someone else do it.

NOTE: Teenagers can read your replies. Please filter them if you wish to say something in anger. Thank you.

[filtered to Peter Parker & James Rogers]

I am sorry, kids.

[filtered to science club]

I know I will regret it.

Great, let's hope no one starts talking about starting that up here then.

They'd better not.

What do you think about this SHIELD idea, really?

I think Daisy has good intentions and now that Maria is here --- well, I trust Maria. I didn't always like the way her partner, Nick Fury, went about things, but he usually still had decent intentions even if people got --- well, Nick put the whole before the pieces, if you know what I mean. That said, I don't want SHIELD operating without our eyes and ears in it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Honestly, I'm willing to give them a chance but I'm also not willing to be under survaillance. And Frost, I can't guarentee she wouldn't react badly.

We need some level of transparancy here. And accountability.

Agreed on all account. What is that about democracy dying in darkness?

Exactly.

Question is, will they agree with this?

I don't think we have a real issue unless Fury comes. He likes a good secret society.

I'm going to remain wary either way.

Probably more so if he shows up.

Many of them.

I think I take back what I said about Maria. Turns out she was looking into Pete back home without my knowledge.

A kid close to me so, you know. Fury never did trust me.

I don't think people like that know how to trust. But spying on a kid, that's too much.

I think wary was the right call.

And another disappointment from my reality--

Yes, quite the right call.

I believe in protecting people when needed. But spying on them isn't protecting them.

I'm not willing to let this place turn into 1984.
