People (well, dads, specifically) who thought, way back in the dark ages or whenever when marriages were more business deals than a step some couples take when they love each other, that if the groom saw the bride before the wedding, the groom would call off the wedding if the bride wasn't physically to his satisfaction (and I think that's also what veils were for, or at least in part). I think anymore it's just preferences and wanting that first moment to be at the aisle where it's supposed to be special. Or that's what the internet says. I read way too much about weddings to prepare for this, and I might have watched
