I believe perhaps I have taken my whimsy a bit too far this time...

Are you void of whimsy?

It serves no purpose other than to distract from the present.

Sometimes one needs to be diverted from the present.

I must disagree. Short of reflecting on the past to discern shortcomings, etc., there is no need to disassociate.

And now I am afraid it is my turn to disagree. One should only reflect on the past if its remembrance gives them pleasure. Reflecting on your shortcomings- ones that can not be resolved in the present- is a folly in and of itself.

There is no wisdom in forgoing the reflection of previous failings.

There is also no wisdom to be found in forgoing whims.

Pray tell, what wisdom is there in whimsy, then? Enlighten me.

I do not believe we are going to reach an agreement, or that I have an acceptable answer for you. I can only speak from my experience and not from the experience of others. My wisdom and intelligence certainly have not been hindered by whimsy, follies, or nonsense. I own and laugh at them whenever I can, and yet manage to nurture my mind. Is a well-rounded accomplished mind really to be void of fanciful behavior?

An agreement is unnecessary, it is only a matter of discourse.

I am of the belief that you need only recall what is pertinent, facts, figures, and the wisdom to apply them collectively when necessary. I have no use for anything outside of as much.

I do enjoy to indulge discourse as much as I enjoy whimsy.

And are you happy, then? Living a life as such?

As I understand it, the current time now only allows your sex that luxury, but further encourages it, yes. It is simply not for me.

Happiness is not a necessity to function in society. My work is what matters, nothing more.

I know very little of the current time, for I have only just arrived, and from what I have gathered? I am leaps and bounds ahead of where I should be, but I assure you that in my time, I am free to partake in that 'luxury' as often as I wish.

Oh dear, I can't very well tease you about that.

I would strongly recommend reading on the Suffragette Movement, perhaps to catch up on what it is you have missed. What time is it that you hail from, then?

Tease me? Whatever for?

Thank you for the recommendation. I am from 1812, specifically Hertfordshire in 1812, and you?

Have you not recognized my teasing for the majority of this encounter?

I suspected nineteenth century. 1884.

No, I am afraid not.

Whatever was it that gave me away? You are not too terribly far ahead of me then, as far as the time we hail from goes. I am Elizabeth Bennet.

Perhaps you can revisit it later and reflect on this shortcoming in order to be better equipped in the future.

Your speech, sense of whimsy, and syntax. Sherlock Holmes.

And what purpose would that serve me?

And you are oblivious to it still, Sherlock Holmes.
