WHO: Lydia Martin & Stiles Stilinksi
WHERE: Starting in the flat, and then ?
WHEN: Monday
WARNINGS: Probably 0

At the rate the entity was going with all of these events, it was going to take Lydia four years to finish her two years of college. Not that she was in any particular rush while she was here, but she did like her classes. There was no way she was getting on a subway train to school when there were three kids in the apartment. Well, two kids and a teenager. And work was right out as well. She was letting them roam the building freely without hovering too much, but if they needed something she wanted to be close by. She had no idea if that was right, but she had no idea if any of what she was doing was right. And she couldn't exactly call her mom.

Standing in the kitchen with a notepad in hand, she was taking stock of the dismal state of their pantry. They were eating so much, and she hadn't wanted to run out to the store to replenish in case she was needed. The idea of bringing Scott and Stiles with her was way too nerve-wracking. She'd definitely lose one of them, if not both. She had so much more respect for Melissa, Claudia, and Noah right now.

"Nope," he said with a shake of his head. He was about to ask why not, but then she asked him that question. "No, but I'm not a toddler. I'm more fun. You're having fun with me now, aren't you?"

"It's kind of the same thing. She's almost twice as old as you are, she has her own things she wants to do that are different than things you want to do. Just like you don't play the same games you did when you were two."

"Soooooooooooo, don't ask her to play with me anymore?" That's what he was getting out of this conversation. "Can I ask you then?"

"You can ask her, you just have to respect when she says no, and try not to take it personally." It seemed he might have done the first part right, but the second part was so much harder. Even for adults sometimes. "Of course you can ask me. But I might say no sometimes."

"I'll try." It was all he really could do. And he didn't bug her when she did say no. He just left her and went off to find the next person to ask. "Okay. But at least you won't call me names when you say no." he sighed. He really didn't like this conversation anymore. "Are we going home?"

"Nope, the only name I might call you is mischief," she teased, trying to bring his spirits back up. "Yup, see it up ahead on the left? If you ever end up outside without me and you get lost, this is the building you need to try and find."

He looked up and smiled. "My mom calls me that!" He left out the bit that he called himself that for a bit too since he couldn't pronounce his actual name at first. He looked in the direction that Lydia had mentioned. "Yeah, I see it," he told her when he did finally see their apartment building. "I will." Hopefully, that never happened. Especially since he didn't want to scare her again.

She wasn't going to let on that she already knew that (was it cheating? Nah), so she just grinned at him instead. "Really? Well we both must think it fits." The ostriches were just as creepy as ever, but now she had to not let on that she thought so while they waited for the elevator.

"You can call me that if you want." Even though it was his mom's thing, he liked Lydia, so he would be okay if she called him that as well. As for the ostirches, he didn't find them creepy. He was watching them as they waited for the door to the elevator to open. "Wouldn't it be cool if they could talk?"

"Thanks. I'll probably mostly stick with Stiles, but it's good to know I can when you're being silly." Looking around at the ostriches, she couldn't say she agreed. "What do you think they'd say if they could?"

"Do you have any nicknames?" he asked. "I think they would say they want to leave and go do something fun. Maybe they want to have get ice cream too." He grinned up at Lydia and then looked forward when the elevator dinged and the doors open.

"My grandma used to call me Ariel, but no one else does. Sometime Lyd or Lyds, though." Letting go of his hand, she placed it on his back to guide him into the elevator. "Hmm, I think they like chocolate best. Time to push the button. Do you remember which one?"

"Like the little mermaid? Is it because of your hair?" he asked as they made their way into the elevator. He looked at the buttons and then back at Lydia for a moment. "Yes!" He quickly pushed hte button for their floor and then watched as the doors closed a moment later.

"We used to read the book together, and I just really liked it." Leaning against the elevator wall, she flashed him a smile as he pushed the right button. It was the small things, even though she was already exhausted and the day wasn't close to finished.

"There's a book?" He didn't know that. He knew the movie. But had no idea that there was a book for it. He did a little dance since he had been right. After that he leaned against the wall and watched as the numbers on the display changed as the elevator took them to their floor.

His dance reminded her of the sugar she'd just given him. Yup, this was going to be a long day. "There is. It's very very old, much older than the movie. But we watched the movie, too." The elevator dinged open and she held the door so he could get out. "Do you remember which room is ours? How fast do you think you can get there?"

"Which one is better? The movie or book?" He had to ask. When the doors opened, he jumped out and then looked back, waiting for Lydia to exit the elevator too. "I do remember. Really fast." He took this as the a-okay to run ahead of her. So, that's what he did. He ran down the hallway all the way until he reached their apartment. "See!" He tried the handle, but it was locked, so he waited for Lydia to catch up and unlock the door.

"I like the book better because it reminds me of my grandmother." She gave him a little nod when he checked to see if running was okay. They were inside, he was much safer here. "Whoa, that was really fast. Are you sure you're not the Flash?" Reaching the apartment, she fit the key in the lock then pushed it open for him to go in. Just in case, she locked it behind them. "Why don't you go ask Scott if he wants to watch, and I'll make popcorn."

"Did she read it to you?" Yeah, he was still asking her question. He'd probably ask her a million more today before he passed out. "I'm sure! I bet it would be so cool to run that fast, though." The second the door was open, he went inside. "Okay!" He took off to ask Scott if he wanted to watch TV with them. After that, he went to the couch and plopped down on it. He grabbed the remote and turned it on. It didn't take him long to flip to one of the cartoon channels.

"Sometimes. And then when I was old enough, I read it back to her." She didn't mind answering his questions as long as they all stayed as innocent as they had been. Big bowl of popcorn in hand, Lydia sat next to him on the couch, crossing her ankles on top of the ottoman. "What are we watching?"

"So you took turns?" It sounded like it. He glanced away from the Tv long enough to see where she was going to place the popcorn. He wanted some. "We Bare Bears." He reached out and grabbed some popcorn. "Can we have chicken nuggets for dinner tonight?"

"Yea, kind of." On the television three bears were talking about something, she had no idea what was happening but she didn't mind much. She just had to stay awake. "You can have chicken nuggets if you pick a veggie side to go with it."

"That must have been fun." He was paying more attention to the cartoon after a while. Mindlessly grabbing at the popcorn and eating it. "Carrot sticks with ranch." He glanced over at her to see what she'd say about that choice of a side to what he really wanted for dinner.

He was a tiny bottomless pit, scarfing down the popcorn after the ice cream... which wasn't so different from the tall bottomless pit he grew up to be. "Steamed carrots and beans." This was what watching kids was, apparently. Endless negotiating when it was just straight up ordering them around, which somehow felt really bad when they were little but not when they were her age.

Now she had his attention. He looked away from the TV and scrunched up his nose. "No beans. French fries instead." He'll still eat the carrots, but he defintiely wasn't feeling the beans. He'd rather have french fries. He shoved more popcorn into his mouth, chewing as staring at Lydia as he did.
