After twenty-seven years, Remus could read Severus's silences as well as his words.
The lead-heavy, congested silence of an argument.
The dangerous, sharp-knife silence that screamed steer clear, the whirling hurricane of silence that signaled action.
The comfy-chair, everyday silence of their life together. They were, both of them, men of rare and carefully chosen words.
The hot, wild silence of sex, midnight breaths and heated skin slick with sweat.
The bitter silence of separation, the oppressive, stifling silence of betrayal.
In the end, Remus turned one ear to the wind, and strained to hear the cool, airy silence of forgiveness.
