“I’m sorry Molly, I cannot stay…” Severus stammered, pulling away from her clutching hands to apparate away. 

Each memory evoked at The Burrow seemed to lacerate the unhealed wounds of his soul.  The smell of Molly’s cooking, the laughter of the younger children, Arthur’s voice in quiet discussion, even the yowl of Granger’s blasted cat… they all acted as pensieves, plunging him deep into memories of Grimmauld Place.  And Remus.

Once evoked, the memories had a potency of their own and a murderous intent to destroy.  Remembering the musky, wild scent of him, the gentle hands and hungry fierce cock, the tenderness and passion and loving ferocity of him – all hooks that caught and trapped him, piercing through flesh to impale his faltering heart; brittle shards that tore as they destroyed.
