Severus blinked as the art house lights came up. He hadn’t realized he was holding Remus’ hand so tightly until he tried to lever himself up and his lover sucked in a harsh breath.

“I’m sorry—”

“No, no, my fault, Severus,” Remus said in a bemused voice. “I thought you would like see Mr. Rush’s critical performance. I just…” his voice trailed away.

“It was disturbing, wasn’t it?”

They walked out of the theatre hand-in-hand, the marquee for “Quills” dimming above their heads.

“He has a fine voice, though,” Severus finally said.

Remus chuckled. “Not a patch on yours, love.”
