Rabastan's eyes were heavy as he sat in his study, finishing up last minute work. Ginny had gone to bed over an hour ago, and he knew he should have given it a rest then, but it was important to finish drafting up agreements between the British Ministry and Belize so they could finally put this matter to rest. Running a hand over his face, he finally signed, putting down his quill and standing after what felt like hours. His back and neck cracked, which provided both relief, and a twinge of pain as he made his way out of his study and into the darkness of the Manor. He didn't question it at first, but usually, the help left on various lights throughout the evening, but right now, everything was pitch black. He stopped for a slight moment, overcome with the terrible silence of it all, and realized that he was actually feeling a bit paranoid. His wand though... he had left it in his bedroom, and due to that, quickened his pace up the stairs and into his and Ginny's room. Upon entering though, he was greeted with... an empty bed. What was paranoia to begin with, began to slowly turn into something more concrete. Fear. Panic. Something was terribly wrong.
Running over to the nightstand next to his side of the bed, Rabastan breathed a sigh of relief as his hand closed upon his wand, knowing, at the very least, he had some protection. With a flick of it, the tip illuminated, and he looked around his quarters, finding absolutely no sign of Ginny. The bedding wasn't even disturbed. Taking a breath he left his room, going from room to room in the upstairs, even her old quarters, wondering if just maybe, he had done something to upset her and she was asleep in her old bed. But it was just as empty as every other room. His throat grew tighter, and his heart began hammering against his chest so loudly that he swore you could hear it from the outside.
Moving towards the staircase, there was a new sight to behold. A gentle glow coming from the main entrance at the foot of the stairs. Moving towards it slowly, he looked down from atop the second floor and was greeted with the sight of hooded witches and wizards standing in a semi circle at the bottom of the stairs, each of their wands casting a gentle glow across the dark hard wood.
"What the hell is going on here," he said with a lot more authority and annoyance than he really felt. Without a word, a singular figure moved forward to the center, throwing off their hood to reveal someone he was relieved beyond all belief to see, but also was equally concerned. "Ginny?" he questioned softly, confusion crossing his features as she looked up with him, her eyes full of such... disgust and hatred it almost physically hurt.
"Ginny... what is going on?" he questioned.
"Isn't it obvious?" she questioned, her voice full of venom as she looked up at him. "We're here to take you down, Rabastan Lestrange. We're here for revenge." Smiling then, a cold, cruel smile, one that he never thought possible on her beautiful face, she motioned to the sea of people behind her, obvious now to be a group of rebels within his home.
"I don't understand... I.." he was cut off though instantly.
"What is there to get? This was a fucking set up, Lestrange. All of it. Do you honestly think I could ever love a disgusting, murdering pig like you? That I actually saw something good in you? No, it was all a bloody ploy, and a hell of a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. You're so gullible. So stupid. You ate it up like a dog starving in the streets, faced with his first hot meal. And now I'm free, and you're trapped, and we're going to make sure you never hurt anyone again. That you feel the same pain that countless of my friends felt at your hands, and the hands of your Death Eater scum friends."
Raising her wand against him, laughing a cold, twisted laugh, the rest of the hooded figures followed suit. The entire Manor lit up as spells and hexes of every sort flew in Rabastan's direction, hitting him with such a force he crumbled and fell down the staircase, convulsing in pain. Again and again and again. But the physical pain didn't even come close to the emotional pain he was experiencing. Ginny... betrayed him. She didn't love him. It was all a joke, a lie. How could he have been so stupid.
He wasn't sure how long he endured the agony, but when it stopped, for a brief second, he looked up into the beautiful, cold face of the woman who had his heart. "Ginny... please... I love you..."
She raised her wand, pointing it down at directly at his chest as the entire room filled with a bright green light....
