It was cold. Ginny felt the cold before her eyes opened. Cold and damp, she realized. Ginny could hear the soft running of water, feel the wetness on the floor under her. The end of her long hair were soaked and Ginny slowly opened her eyes, sitting up and looking around. The Chamber stood, the corpse of the monster she had freed decaying next to her. It's blood had stained the cold tile black, the smell of rot and decay making Ginny gag. She stood slowly and looked around.
She reached into the pocket of her robes for her wand and pulled it out, gasping softly as she saw it snapped in two. Dropping the broken wand onto the ground, the sound echoed in the silent, empty Chamber. Ginny bit down on her lip, trying to remember how she left before, but Harry had done that. Harry wasn't here.
Ginny started walking, her heart slowly beating faster and faster. She couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't alone. The further she walked away from the monster's corpse, the harder it began. Something was pulling her back, trying to make her turn around.
It's been so long since you've written me.
Ginny froze, her heart stilling in her chest. She could hear the absence of her pulse. Seconds before it had felt so loud and now... the absence of it was deafening.
"You're not here. You're dead. You're gone. He killed you."
I'll always live within you, Ginny. A part of me is with you always, surely you know that. Surely you suspected. You were so quick to love the monster I created. Why is that?
Shaking her head, Ginny tried to clear away the voice. It couldn't be real. Riddle was dead and gone Ginny knew that. She KNEW it. But the walls of the Chamber seem to be closing in on her and there, in the dark, she could see his eyes. Those piercing, evil and cold eyes. Ginny took a step backwards, but tripped, falling backwards. The scream that escaped her lips filled the Chamber, her eyes wide in horror as she realized what she'd stumbled over.
Harry's body. Broken and bent. His green eyes cold and lifeless, staring at nothing. "No, no, no, no. You're dead, you're dead, you're dead."
I've missed you, Ginny. You understand the monsters so well. You're one of us, don't you see? One of my creations. One of my monsters, ready to kill at my command. I'll always be with you, Ginny. He's watching you for me, keeping you until I come for you again.
Wrapping her arms around herself, Ginny rocked back and forth, sobbing while her body shook with fear. Soon, Ginny. Soon.
~~~
Ginny's eyes flew open and she let out a choked sob before sitting up, reaching for Rabastan. The nightmares had never left her, not really, but this had felt so real. She could still hear Riddle in her mind, still smell the rot of the monster in her nose. Ginny turned to look at her fiancee, expecting to see his warm, large and solid body slumbering next to her, but instead she saw him sitting up as well, his eyes wide and panicked and his wand pointed directly at her.
"... Rab, love," she said softly, feeling her heart speed up once again. Ginny couldn't shake the fear the dream had given her, fear amplified by Rabastan's wand.
