Author's Note: [info]gingertart50, I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have been given your story request! I hope that I give you even a tiny fraction of the fun reading it that I had in writing it. Much love and many thanks to my betas – E, S and B – all brilliant writers to whom I owe my first, second and third child, respectively (which is a great burden from my mind, since I don't really want kids).
All remaining mistakes are mine. And special love and thanks to the amazing mods who have worked so hard on this fest: [info]f13tch3r, [info]svartalfur and [info]yanks02. You've made this so much fun!

A Snarry that twists me into a sobbing mess isn't all that rare, and while a Snarry that has me laughing through the snot and tears is in fact rare, it still wouldn't have anything on this story. How on earth did you manage such a fine balance between humor and romance and parody and angst and fluff and snark, all entwined with the most incredible writing and structure? I had no idea such a story was possible. I'm not going to spew any nonsense about characterization or plot or whatits because frankly I wasn't paying all that much attention. I was utterly overwhelmed by the FUN of reading, of snickering at Harry's or Kreacher's expense, of whacking at Snape for being such a dunderhead, of glomping Ginny and Hermione for their strength and likability in spite of fanon cliches, of cracking up at the ironies and parodies and sheer sillies, of enjoying the pure joy of a well-told story.

And goodness, Mpreg. I admit it. I'm as biased as your next high-horsed, snooty fanfic reader against Mpregs, but this came highly recced (from painless-j's rec) and I thought the scenario was probably just nutty enough to give it a try. It could have so easily gone wrong, I think, yet you manage it, not only in terms of plausibility or realism but also in terms of garnering sympathy while juggling humor and compassion. I don't know if that made any sense. I mean, I feel for Harry, I really do. His early explosions at Snape, his bearing it and mellowing down, his cravings and weird episodes - having another life sharing your very much male body is not remotely pleasant (or natural, under the usual definition), but despite that, I also fall in love with the baby because of him and I fall in love with his resilience and flexibility, always necessary when it comes to Snape and even more so in added stress. There are two bits that really struck a chord with me. One was the first Ginny fire-call when she tells him that if there had to be a man to get pregnant, she'd hope it to be him. Two was the second Ginny fire-call when she observes that Harry is only happy if he loves someone. That speaks worlds about him, doesn't it? And he displays that love in plenty throughout this long adventure. This is the Harry that I wished for canon, the Harry that we never got to see. This is the Harry that is truly a hero in a much more human sense.

Maybe if Kreacher pretended to be a baby and crawled through the house we could figure out where the worst bits are!

This. Oh, God. I mean, I guess it's probably not the highlight of the story or anything and there are certainly bucketloads more of other silliness, but I laughed so hard and so interminably here that I really could not breathe, and it's been several years since I can remember losing control of my own laughter like that. It was really getting painful and I actually had to look away from the screen, trying to meditate to get my breath (and body) back. For cases like this, there really should be a spell that works counter to Riddikulus. At the least, you should put up a warning: "Near trauma by laughter." I had to very resolutely avoid that line afterwards because any stray sighting of a fragment (and the accompanying images) would send me into convulsions anew. :) I know I've just gone on for a paragraph basically telling you this line is funny, but really. If I've gone a bit off my rocker, there's only this story to blame.

As for all the other funnies, I'll limit myself to picking out just one other that near about killed me as well. "I had thought to go through life eschewing the dubious experience of delivering a baby in a goat shed on Christmas Eve." I didn't even get that until Snape goes on to say, "The second coming, I'm sure." XDDDD I collapsed on my desk.

I will be reccing this on my own recs page: www.fanfiction.net/~emptywordhp, and I will be keeping this in my harddrive to be enjoyed again and again. :) I cannot thank you enough.

Wow. I'm overwhelmed by your kindness. I'm so very happy that you enjoyed the story so much!

I'd actually never thought of writing mpreg, but I knew that Gingertart enjoyed it so I gave it a shot for her. The story ended up writing itself - in fact, I had to cut quite a lot because I went a bit overboard. I definitely had fun with it. *g*

Thank you!
