Summary: Upon waking up, Severus finds himself not recovering from Nagini's bite, but healing after a long-term mysterious illness. Not only must he uncover the mystery of the cause of his affliction, but also deal with his lover, who is the very last person he wanted to ever see again: Harry Potter.

You're very welcome. Such a long, wonderful fic deserved a long, detailed comment. :)

I often interpret Snape's death in DH as a suicide. I think he could've escaped if he wanted to, but he had decided that once Harry died, he would end as well.

Seconded! Given his reactions to Dumbledore's news, I think Severus preferred to be dead so that he wouldn't have to witness Harry's self-sacrifice.

A lot of people pointed out how incredible it was that Severus wouldn't have taken precautions, and that Arthur Weasley survived the snake bite much longer. But in the words of of HP analyst RedHen, "Sometimes, things happen the way they were supposed to happen." If Severus died, maybe that wasn't a fumble on the author's part, but deeper characterisation.

And I really like that your Severus is happy with his death. It seemed such a waste to me at first. Such a needless, senseless death. It made me so angry.

I'll take your fic as Severus's own epilogue post-DH. :)

I apologise if you get this response more than once. My power went out in the middle of posting the response so I'm writing it again.

I agree it seems suspicious that the incredible Potions Master and spy extraordinare did not forsee the possibility of his own death or plan for it. I think, when Harry arrived, he was ready to pass on because he viewed himself as having fulfilled his mission. Then again, I have the biggest Severus-willing-to-die-for-Harry kink, even more than Harry willing to die for Severus.

I wrote this fic in part so people could imagine Snape ending up in a world like this and finding love with Harry. :D
