Summary: Another in the Breathe
series

Sevvy chased after Padfoot, leading Papa and Lulu up to the special room for breakfast. He loved when Papa let them eat with the big kids! Padfoot wasn’t ‘low inside, though.

Climbing the stairs one at a time, Sevvy scampered into the big room with the huge doors to see Padfoot slide between two boys. Both boys had their wands out, with magic red-light coming out of the tips.

“Dawde, noooo!”

Sevvy ran towards Padfoot just as the dog turned and pushed him to the ground, but not before the red-light touched his hand and made it feel like fire.

Severus shifted Laurel higher on his shoulder as he followed his son into Entrance Hall. One of his snakes stood at wand-point with a Gryffindor, Little Severus and Padfoot square in the middle. His heart froze as he watched the spell-light of a stunning hex streak toward his son, but before he could move, Padfoot leapt to knock little Severus down.

Without conscious thought, his wand was in his hand; both seventh years were disarmed and suspended in mid-air by their ankles. Laurel gripped his robes and Severus could feel her magic swirl around them as little Severus whimpered softly.

Someone had made Sevvy hurt and Papa needed to breathe! Laurel fisted her hands in Papa’s robes, knowing Papa was really mad. She knew Papa would take care of things and Daddy was coming. Papa was furious, but she could feel Daddy’s anger pulsating, just as she could feel that Sevvy’s arm hurt. Her eyes narrowed as she looked around for the bad ones.

Hanging in the air were two big boys and Laurel scowled at them. She wished their hands hurt as bad as Sevvy’s did and smirked as both boys yelped. Sevvy whimpered and Laurel reached for him.

Harry drew a harsh breath, cold dread jolting him awake. Sevvy’d been hurt and Harry was out of bed and running.

Feet slapping against the cold floor, Harry flew into the Entrance Hall, registering that Severus and Laurel were fine as he slid to his knees beside Sevvy. The bruising of the soft skin enraged him and Harry clasped his precious son to his chest.

“The innocent are always the unfortunate victims of war,” Harry hissed in cold fury, his magic swirling. “This ends now!”

The Slytherin wet himself and the Gryffindor fainted as both their hair turned neon green.

“Momo, Papa!”

Little Severus sat on his lap with Dragon, pointing at the page in the book Severus was reading him. Harry sat curled against his side, Laurel already asleep. Padfoot slept by the fireplace with Onyx

The children seemed unscathed by the morning’s trauma. A plaster marked the spot where his son had been bruised, Laurel settling once she knew her brother was fine. It was he and Harry, whose uncontrolled magic had rattled the Entrance Hall walls, who’d needed reassurance. The incident put an immediate stop to the newest inter-House war.

Severus leaned over, kissing both dark heads.

Harry sighed as the lean arms slid around him, embracing him. Turning into the lean chest, Harry entwined legs as he snuggled. The incident frightened him more than he wanted to admit.

“You need to retire, Severus,” Harry muttered into the warm skin. “Or I’ll be hexing the miscreants often.”

“There’s a reason dueling isn’t permitted in the corridors,” Severus’ voice rumbled under his ear.

Harry sighed harshly. “Yeah, hexing toddlers is bad form.”

“Indeed, my Harry,” the voice said, “and I must even tolerate the mutt now.”

Harry rubbed against him. “Maybe I can take your mind off it.”
