“Attractive robes, Severus,” Potter said softly, walking past.

Severus glared after him, suspicious.

It was the third compliment from Potter that week. Something was afoot.

A prank?

Rising, Severus followed Potter, watching him signal Granger and slip into the staff lounge.

Severus shamelessly eavesdropped.

“... isn’t working.”

“Just ask Severus out!”

Severus had heard enough.

“Seven sharp, Potter,” he said, startling them into silence. “And cease the flattery. If we’re to begin a new relationship, let it be with honesty.”

Harry smiled slowly, the heat in his eyes making Severus’ breath catch. “Of course, Severus. But those really are attractive robes.”
