I bet you're wondering how I knew
Characters: Hermione, Harry
Status: complete
Hermione stood still as the quietly efficient attendant took her cloak. The Muggle liaison had recommended this restaurant as the single most discreet establishment in London, and she could well believe it; the building and staff may not have been magic, but the sense of secrets told and kept was all but palpable in the oaken walls and thick carpets. There was absolutely no chance that they would run into anyone from the Wizarding World here, and she hoped the lack of other wizards would allow Harry to relax.
She had been worried ever since Ron had stomped in ranting and raving after his conversation with Harry. He'd been too upset to be completely coherent, but Hermione knew them both well enough to read between the lines.
A waiter who looked as if he regularly served the Prime Minister pulled out her chair and waited for her to sit. Hermione nodded in thanks and let him slide her into place. She wasn't sure that Harry would be pleased with her after dinner, but at least no one in Diagon Alley would be gossiping tomorrow about what she had to say.
