Who: You! If you wanna be there!
What: Their Vegas trip turns into an Alien Attack!
Where: Las Vegas, Alternate dimension of some sort.
When: The next day

Peter had one hell of a hang over, and the details of the night before were more than a little bit foggy. The details of which would no doubt start filtering back to him slowly over time. But as he looked out on the early morning sunrise over the strip he frowned looking out over the horizon.

There were lights, and not just the Vegas lights, not the neon of casinos and spot lights encouraging people to come out and spend their nights and days throwing away their money, but hovering lights, that were rapidly approaching. But even that wasn't enough to really clue him in - not until the first laser beam shot out of one of the ships (they were ships!) and blasted the replica Eiffel Tower did Peter get it.

They were under attack, here of all places. Hung over and not at all dressed for the occasion. This was his punishment he thought, for what he and Carol had gotten up to since their arrival.

"Come on! Move move move!" Peter was already moving, he might not have the suit and well he might not be from here but he wasn't about to let people get hurt.

She was probably right about this, removing his lightsaber from his belt and preparing himself for battle, he watched her and raised an eyebrow. So another super-human. He should have guessed. A slow smile and a nod.

"I'd lend you my weapon, but it's a bit touchy." He explained but nodded toward one of the tall casino's still standing. "We can climb up there, and I can help you to the ship. Maybe we can find you a weapon on the way?"

And he was already off, racing past the crowds and into danger, straight to the casino's stairs as they shouted for people to hurry to safety while they climbed the building. No doubt there were others outside fighting- Obi-Wan had already seen some of them. By the time they'd reached the roof, a couple of the ships had been downed, but there were more in the sky and he paused and quietly stared.

".....This planet doesn't have space-travel, does it?" They didn't have a sufficient defense, that was certain. Shaking himself out of it, he walked to the edge of the building and stared at the ship- it was a distance, but he thought he might be able to help push her there. "Can you jump from here?"

There was a pause and a soft sound, possibly of appreciation, as Ben pulled his weapon free and lit it up.

Valkyrie kept up with the man and his glowing, what was that? She could only guess it was a weapon, and some part of her really wanted to give it a try, no matter how touchy it was. At the moment all she really knew was that it glowed; who didn't want a weapon that glowed? She was not counting the times that moving in complete darkness was a better idea to have the advantage.

Now and then they had to see to people's safety, and somewhere along the way she had pried a sturdy handle rail free. It would be cumbersome, but it would cause damage. She really did miss her sword at moments like these. Next door she went through she was taking it; didn't matter where they ended up.

"No, Earth has yet to develop anything like this. They are...shitting ducks?" That didn't sound like the proper wording. "Can I jump from here?" This time she did smile. She swung the rail around, getting the weight of it, and took a few steps back. With a deep breath she ran and jumped. She could clear a good bit of the distance on her own if he was watching carefully, which he probably was.

Ben had been reluctant to use his lightsaber, but he figured this was a situation where having it ready was advisable, especially considering the level of danger that innocent people around them were in. Though he was impressed when he watched her pry off a handrail, noting the strength that would have taken. Right. Not of Earth, probably not entirely human. He grinned.

Shitting ducks? He wasn't familiar with the phrase so he just shook his head at the strange Earth colloquium and stared up at the ship. "It's up to us, then."

He watched her take the leap and...yes, he was impressed. "Well, then..." He stepped back and followed, disengaging his blade as he lept through the air and then grabbed hold of the side of the ship with one hand, pulling himself up onto it as it bucked and swayed and quickly looking for Val to ensure she'd made it as well.

Valkyrie groaned as she hauled herself up onto the ship. She shoved and end of the handrail into the top of the ship, her lips pursing as it didn't go as well or as easily as she expected. Her feet turned slightly, giving her a better foot hold on the hull of the ship. Her eyes narrowed over the smile as she saw that she wasn't the only one capable of clearing that sort of distance.

"Hello." She smiled even more as claimed a hand hold on some bit jutting up from the ship. She grunted as she shoved the handrail again, and there was a definite sound of victory. The thing had gone through something. It probably wasn't going any further than that unfortunately.

"Damn it all." The handrail wasn't made for ripping open the hull of a spaceship, but it made a good start in doing so. She yanked what she could out of it, and had to grab another jutting bit to keep from tumbling off the ship. "Done this before?"

"Not this, no," Ben laughed, reminded of his old days with Anakin doing such dangerous and reckless maneuvers. "But I have an idea." He ignited his saber again as he stabbed it into the ship. Sure enough, it ripped a large gash into the side, cutting straight through whatever engine was there. And the ship began to react. Kenobi climbed higher.

"Be ready to jump!" He was grunting, pulling himself with some effort by his hand and his legs, climbing up as best he could while disengaging the saber, just a few more feet up. He stabbed again, slicing through and then disengage the saber as the ship jolted.

"Now!!" He shouted and let go, reaching out and grabbing her arm, holding it close as he concentrated and tried to use the Force to soften their fall and guide them toward the top of another building.

He just hoped it work. This would be an embarrassing way to go if it didn't.

Valkyrie couldn't help the laugh in return. She was more than a little amused by the man with his glow stick sword? She really did want to see how it worked, especially as it could cut through a ship as well as her own Drangonfang. She pulled whatever bits and pieces she could find through the cuts that didn't look like it would cut or rip back. She worked quickly.

She was paying attention to the man with his glow stick, having heard the "Be ready to jump!" Val heard the "Now!" and moved toward him. He grabbed her as if he were going to protect her, or pull her to safety. He looked all too soft for that, even if she questioned whether or not he had some sort of ability.

She grabbed his arm in return, turning herself between him and whatever was coming their way. One hand lifted to guard his head, just in case. She couldn't let the squishy man with an amazing glow stick get hurt while falling. Or crashing. She intended to take most of the impact, as she'd taken more from a very angry goddess and then some through out her years. She could take hitting the rooftop with a squishy man on top.

He wasn't sure what she was doing at first, but he let her go for it since she seemed determined, bracing himself for an impact. Lucky for them, the Force had significantly softened the blow, but they still hit hard and rolled. Ben was quick on his feet to check on her, realizing he hadn't hit the building at all and then....surprised she was perfectly fine.

Of course, she was. He just smirked a little. He'd ask later. For now, the ship they'd taken out was now crashing downward. They'd have to let the others get the civilians out of the way. There was another ship close by.

"....Again?" He raised an eyebrow, igniting his blade to indicate he was ready for round two.

As soon as he was up, she was too. There was a slight wince as it wasn't the easiest thing to be landed on falling from a great height. She stretched slightly, trying to focus again. They'd lived, and squishy man with his glow stick sword seemed all well. Something had definitely kept her from dying, broken in pieces. Her fall would have needed to be much greater than they'd just experienced.

"No weapon." She actually sounded disappointed. The handrail had been left behind on the now falling ship. "But if we can get one of those guns." She would prefer her sword, but a gun would do in a pinch.

"I shoot, you stab. We take them down." Her brows lifted in question, and while she knew she shouldn't feel this thrill of excitement, not when she knew how many casualties they could be looking at here, she was still smiling.

"Again." She nodded firmly.

He didn't like that wince. The wince concerned him and he wanted to ask about it, but he figured this probably wasn't the time. She was likely not going to answer him honestly. "Right. A gun." He'd seen some of the aliens firing. He assumed that's what she met.

Certainly not the ship guns, right? Then again, the look on her face told him she probably met the ship's weapon. He frowned as he watched for the ship to come closer. "You really think you can pull one off of there?"

Yes. He already knew her answer.

"I think we could excise one." That seemed the right way to say it. Valkyrie actually liked the idea of shooting the ships that didn't look at all like they should be able to fly. She did like the idea, until...She grabbed Ben's arm as she thought she saw something.

"Are they exploding people with their guns?" They were too far up to really see what was happening, but on at least one terrace not too far away, it did look like the strange brain things were shooting people. The shot people just weren't there anymore. Vaporized?

"We need one of those." She nodded as if that were the answer. "From their ships or from them, don't care. Need something." She let go of Ben's arm, as if that was all it took to get what she wanted, to make a decision.

He saw and he was horrified. Of course, they were facing some kind of threat that would kill innocence indiscriminately. "You're right.' They needed a weapon to take out the bastards and maybe those would even stand a chance against the ships.

It appeared that the guns on the ships didn't have the same capability. They were simply blasting away parts of buildings, streets, and causing havoc in their own way. "Perhaps we can ambush one." He was already scanning the vicinity in the hopes of finding a decent target.

"There," Obi-Wan said as he pointed toward the street. A small group of them- three. They could easily sneak up behind them. "We cannot let ourselves be hit, though. No matter how strong you are, I rather not see you vaporized."

"I have never met these things before." Valkyrie watched as more of the buildings were destroyed. How had this happened? Where had these things come from? She did try to think of some creature she'd met on Sakaar, but nothing like this came to mind. It was out of some ridiculous story; there was no way those ship should be flying.

"Yes, that is an option." She winced as another of the running masses was sent away, destroyed. "Perhaps the only option." She didn't want to know how it felt to be vaporized. She looked down where he pointed, her eyes narrowing as she thought.

"I am sure you say that to all the women you destroy ships with," Val couldn't help the smile and wink, even though the matter was serious. It had been some time since she'd done more than sparring. Also, fighting these things was more challenging than the undead, yet the undead did not carry weapons that would truly end her. She did not think she had the ability to withstand being shot by those guns.

"Jump or race down the stairs?" She was already moving to the edge, as if that answered the question.

He actually smiled at her as she flirted? He assumed she was flirting. As old as he might have seemed, he had definitely flirted before. It just wasn't a habit since things had gotten more serious in his life, but well, who was he not to smile at a beautiful woman who was looking at him that way. So he just went along with it, for now, nodding as she moved toward the balcony and following. He couldn't survive the fall, even with his powers....

But... He grinned. "I guess I'll race you down?" He grabbed hold of the side of the building and leaped over it, falling down and straight onto one of the smaller saucers a few yards below as it flew by, slicing into it and jumping off of it onto another, following the pattern closer to the ground until he could essentially land with a short roll on the ground, back on his feet in moments as a small ship crashed behind him.

Valkyrie wasn't expecting the smile back; it wasn't that she couldn't flirt, and it wasn't that she hadn't. Yet, the man with the pretty glow stick didn't seem the kind to flirt right back. She smiled even more as Ben seemed more than ready to risk his life in such a grand way. She did wish she had her sword; she was not leaving home without again, no matter what was on the other side of the door. She would have it, and he might actually be impressed as she was with his weapon.

Her eyes widened as he actually did jump. He was probably going to win this particular race because how many times is she going to see a man take down multiple ship with nothing more than a sword, or something like, and his will? She bit back the desire to give an appreciative whoop, and she fell. Did the town gather warriors?

She rolled in the air to let her land in a crouch on a ship. The force was enough to send the ship into another. She jumped off her first ship to another, landing a little easier this time. Perhaps she didn't take down as many ships, but she could fall much further than Ben without getting too hurt. She landed in a crouch not far from where Ben stood.

He'd watched her from where he had landed, more impressed now with her ability and grinning a little when she landed beside him, checking to ensure she wasn't seriously injured, he then looked around. "So...we were looking for a weapon, right?"

Shouldn't be too hard. A ship crashed behind them and he turned to search for it. One of the small vehicles should have something in it, right?

Low and behold, he found the body of one of the creatures and...yes. A blaster. He grinned and pulled it out, handing it to her. "I trust you know how to use it?"

Valkyrie brushed herself off; she was glad that Klaus could not see her like this. The outfit that he helped her pick out was ruined, and she had meant to make it home with it mostly intact. Actually she hadn't planned on it getting ruined at all, and now she was standing near ruined ships and broken bodies. There was no way her pretty Vegas outfit was going to make it. Her hair was a complete mess. She would apologize to Klaus, as soon as she helped take care of the damn creatures.

"If I do not, then I am not worthy of my name." She might not have learned fighting with a blaster, but she did learn to use whatever weapon she could. The blaster was possibly the best choice when the enemy carried so many of the things themselves.

"You will stay out of the line of fire?" She moved closer, flipping switches and hoping nothing exploded. "I would prefer you not get vaporized."

Ben wasn't usually one to notice something like a beautiful dress, especially considering how subtle things in Starklandia were compared to grand senate fashions, but he would have admitted Valkyrie looked very, very nice in the dress she'd had on. Beautiful, even. But he liked this more. He couldn't explain what was so mesmerizing about it, but maybe it was just a more natural look for the woman.

"I'll do what I can." He grinned, igniting his lightsaber. "Back to back?" He could block the blasts easily enough with his blade- just as he'd blocked them a million times before fighting in the Clone Wars. In the meantime, she could fire. "Maybe we should make our way toward the door? Make sure the others are doing alright?"

Valkyrie bit her bottom lip as she got the feeling Ben was actually looking at her. She wasn't one to be shy, but it did feel nice. She took a moment to check the site on the blaster, anything to feel like she wasn't being looked at.

"Back to back? Your.." Valkyrie motioned to the glowing blade, or whatever it was, Ben held. "Will it protect you and me?" Her eyes narrowed, not doubting the man, so much as not knowing what the man could do. How could the glow stick protect them? She had liked what it could do to ships, had been very impressed with it.

"If you can guard my back, I shall protect yours. I fire on them; you do what you must." She nodded at Ben. "We pick up stragglers on our way, get them to safety?" She looked at the city as it was falling.

Ben raised his eyebrow but nodded. Oh yes, he could definitely protect them with his blade. "Agreed." He nodded toward her, stepping closer to the fray- and of course, a shot was fired their way. He quickly blocked it with his lightsaber and nodded for her to follow.

"You lead, I follow." Together they could hopefully get more than a few people out of this situation. Another crash nearby and he saw a larger ship going down. Carol was blasting through them, a huge wall of fire now bursting through the air guarding civilians, and lightning shot through the sky as Thor worked with Loki.

This was certainly turning out to be quite a day.

"Is Earth always this exciting?"

Valkyrie gave a soft sound of appreciation. She patted Ben's shoulder, carefully to keep from hurting him; they'd come too far for him to get hurt by a sign of camaraderie.

"That is an amazing weapon." She did like his glow stick. Her smile said just as much as the shoulder pat. She didn't move yet; her eyes lifted to Carol. Her eyes narrowed to see the two other Asgardians living in town, one she knew and one she didn't. She wondered how well the one she thought she knew. She sighed softly; now was not the time for this, whatever this was. She nodded to herself and looked around to find what she wanted, a line to take.

"The Earth I was on?" She put her hand on his shoulder to say she was ready to go. Waiting long enough to feel him at her back, or as close as he could be while they moved, she began to lead. "Yes, there were many battles to be had."

The blaster worked as well as she had hoped. The creatures didn't seem to fare very well against their own weapon. She smiled slightly and settled into leading Ben toward the door, all the while looking for those who might need help in heading "home."

She was impressive, Ben would give her that. He grinned and followed, blocking shots with his blade, shielding her and others as best he could as she took aim and fired at these invaders. The streets were almost empty now, citizens have been killed or found cover. Ben was worried that some of their own might be on the list of victims, but he had no time to worry about that now.

Soon, they were closer to the door, and he blocked one last shot, sending the blast straight back to the alien that fired.

"It looks like they're retreating," He called over his shoulder to her. It was a good thing, too. The city looked devastated.

Once they were at the door, Valkyrie stopped, putting her hand on Ben's shoulder to tell him that they were stopping. She turned to look back at the city, wincing at the sight of it. This was not what heroes did, was it? It seemed like that was what happened with the big bad creatures were stopped or halted.

She shot a few more times over his shoulder, not picking out those running, but a few who were still fighting. Her hand slid from Ben's shoulder; she sighed softly.

"They are cowards." She didn't growl, but she believed what she said. She was glad that she hadn't needed to fight them before. They had helped her make a decision; she would not leave without her sword, and better shoes.

"Most those who would do such horrible things are," Ben replied sadly as he looked over the destruction. He did not want to simply run, either. But he was not sure how to help beyond saving lives. Fighting back.

He could sense she did not want to leave, though. Neither did he. So he stood his ground, watching the horizon and waiting to see what he could do next. "We can find the survivors. Ensure they can escape the city?"

Where? How? Obi Wan wasn't sure. Goddamnit, he wished the town had planned for this. He would bring it up when they returned. If they returned.

Valkyrie could see that Ben was torn as she in how to help. They had no place to take survivors, other than through the door. Was that allowed? How would they even accomplish gathering them all together, transporting them? She was at a loss, and the man with the glow stick of power seemed just as lost.

It was probably forward, and she didn’t care. She could be more so. She slid her free hand into his, leaning ever so slightly. Support given. A slap on the back might have worked, but she’d claim limited space. “We stand out ground here. Keep it clear for the others.” It was better than nothing.

“I would like to share drinks with you.” There couldn’t be just one drink with an Asgardian involved. It was a honor thing. “Celebrate the downing of many ships.” She’d yet to let go of his hand, but it would be done and understood if they needed to fight once more.

Yes. Yes, that seemed like a plan. He just nodded firmly, capable of doing that and casting her a small smile. "I can shield us from the weapons, I think. Maybe you can help guide the others here?"

He wasn't sure if it was the best plan. But he did chuckle when she asked about drinks. "Oh, we are definitely having drinks when we get back."

But was not a prude about drinking. Far from it. He grinned and turned his attention back to the invaders, preparing to fight and guard those who might need it.
