Who: Kitty Pryde and St John Allerdyce
What: A date? Maybe? Kinda? Sorta?
Where: At John's to start
When: Friday!

Dinner. It was such a simple thing and yet as Kitty made her way over to John's house that evening she couldn't help but wonder what exactly she was getting herself into. Things would be so different if they were back home. She'd have still been sorting out things after Piotr and well there was the school to consider and well - he was dead. So she supposed trying to fame this in the context of being back home it was a moot point. This never would have happened there.

But she couldn't help the comparison, maybe it would be a little like Bobby inviting the new Pyro to join the team, bringing him to the wedding. How weird was it that she could find these kinds of similarities between her life and Bobby's after everything? Too weird maybe. Not that it stopped her from agreeing to dinner, or made her want to not spend time with John. He was a little rough around the edges maybe, but he was trying and that was something.

So there she was at his door once more, this time without plates and bottles and all the things she'd had the last time she'd been there. Just her on her own. Maybe she'd run the brush through her hair just a few more times than usual that evening, but she was allowed.

Regardless how she dressed, his eyes remained on her. Soaking in her entirety. Feasting on each individual feature with out any particular disdain or particularly hiding it. At this point, John didn't care if she saw the look. This has happened and frankly, why hide it. "Nah. Truthfully, you couldn't lose that competition."

There was a stunned look on Pyro's face. "How dare you, Kitty Pryde!" He faked is complete and utter surprised look. "I would never. Never have I ever robbed a bank just to get shot, sent to the hospital, and then charmed my way back out into hiding." He placed his hand up as if he was clutching fake pearls. "How dare you insinuate I am anything but a model citizen." Then there was that charming yet devilish grin of his. Sure, he was.. well him, but he wasn't about to rock this boat he was in with Kitty. Despite a number of the pretty rocky introductions he had made. It's fine. He'd rebound. Probably.

"Staycation. Ugh. Millennial's and their weird words." Pyro rolled his eyes some with a smirk. All that mattered, the pair of them were here and able to have this conversations. Whatever they may be. "I think I'd miss you too if you were to phase away on me." Pyro considered a moment. "I'd pine for you for a whole two days."

"Stop that," She didn't miss the way he was looking at her, it made her want to do something ridiculous like blush or something like that. She wasn't of course, but it was something she hadn't expected of him, for him to look at her like that, it felt a little like it came out of no where, and like they might have been headed this way from the start.

Thankfully he was good at making her laugh and that urge was gone replaced with her amusement at his pretend outrage over her suggestion that he just might rob a bank at some point. "Oh no, I know - you've been on your very best behavior." She agreed, certainly not in a hurry to push him to be anything but exactly what he claimed to be - that look on his face though. Well she knew what that meant.

Not a sudden desire for evil doing, or anything of the sort, but certainly a tease. He could get up to some mischief, of that much she was absolutely certain.

"It could be worse, I mean have you heard of fomo?" She asked him, raising an eyebrow at him as he smirked, it was silly and fun to tease

She wasn't used to this kind of open honesty from him, a lot of what they'd talked about up to this point had been silly little things, poking at one another, laughing and trying not to get too caught up in the way they used to be, the way they were supposed to be. "Just two days? Not even a full fifty hours?"

Her telling him to stop only brought a smile to his lips, but the look went no where. John was in it, and why shouldn't Kitty see how he felt. Truthfully, Pyro never expected this for a moment, especially with an X-Men. But if felt natural, or right. Since being here, and since not having to fight off mutant hating humans, and fighting his adversaries, he could just focus on, well, this. This being him and Kitty of course.

Of course he was. He was a god damn saint! Kinda. "Well you know me, model citizen and keeper of all that is good." John mused with a shrug and a light chuckle. "I admit, having someone around.." John started before looking for his words, that weren't That I want to be good for . "You make it seem easy." He compromised with himself. "You make it look easy too."

"Fomo. I don't want to know. Fomo." Pyro sneered a little. "It just sounds disgust." He thought about it for a moment. "Yah gurl, ya wanna fomo?" Then Pyro followed up with another disgusted look on his face. "Disgusting.

Sure, he was being honest, but it had increasingly become easier he found. With some people. Kitty, he trusted. She was showing him the ease of doing the right thing, which felt gross, and then Carol had his back during their daring escape. Something about near death and combat that made a pair of people closer? "Hm. I think I could pine for fifty hours. That's fair. I'll give you fifty." Pyro smiled at her to truly express his feelings.

Sometimes maybe that was all people needed, just someone around who helped to make things seem easier. It was probably why she'd done what she had so young, despite Professor Xavier's wishes. Kitty saw her friends going out and fighting and saving people, she could do that too - she could help people. She'd seen them do it and knew she could. And maybe she could be that for not just John, but other's too. It was why she believed in the school so much.

"Well you know us teachers." She said with a soft laugh and a smile just for him. He wasn't her student, and she certainly wouldn't pretend like he was, but she did like being able to help make things just a little easier for him.

Laughing at the face he pulled as he heard about fomo, it really did sound terrible when you said it like that, there were all sorts of words these days that she didn't understand. "Would it help if I told you that fomo isn't something you do?"

"We should probably shake on it." She teased, as he agreed to a full fifty hours of mourning in her honor. "Just to be sure that it's official and all of that. And then after you've pined for the allotted amount of time, you'll have to keep a picture of me up on your wall from here on out as a reminder that once you knew me."

It was a saying, being a product of those you are around. When others are doing good, it was easier to follow that path. Though good ole Pyro, much rather his rougher side, but being a criminal wasn't in his liking any more. To rich for his blood. Too much chaos, and he was more for the controlled chaos. Even with that, though, Pyro didn't particularly trust humans or people. To wishy washy and filled with predetermined notions on mutants. The population could go fuck themselves.

"I do know one. She's real opinionated, and might fine at her job." John matched her smile as he glanced at the burning candle on the table. Burning away during however long they've been enjoying their time together.

"Something I wouldn't do?" John thought for a minute. "What fuck on the first date? I'm a lady, Kitty Pryde. You gotta woo me better than that." His smile remained with his teasing tone. "F..O..M..O..." He tapped his finger on his chin. "Fit oranges, mangos, and orangutans?" He asked obviously oblivious to the true meaning.

"Who. Picture on the wall for everyone to see." John held his hands up to slow her down. "I'll mourn you, but the picture is tough one." He leaned forward some. "I mean, we haven't even kissed yet" John's blues fell on her with that smile and that very specific look of his. "Unless you want to change that."

"Can't be a teacher if you aren't filled with opinions." Kitty teased with a small smirk, "Or so I've heard." She added, as if she wasn't the very teacher in question. It was never really the sort of thing she imagined for herself, teaching, training up the next generation, but it had fit well for a time. Here though, it left her a little bit unsure of what her role should be. Jean didn't need a teacher anymore, and neither did any of the other mutants, and there were no X-Men for her to lead here.

So all she was left with was teasing about it. Which was fine, she'd just have to find something more to do with her time. And for now that included spending more time with John.

She laughed when tried to think of what fomo could possibly mean, shaking her head at him when he made his vulgar suggestion. "I'll be sure to remember that." She said dryly, bit with a smile on her face, letting him come up with one more guess before she decided to take pity on him. "I'm told it means fear of missing out." She explained, "So you see that your friends are at the park having a good time one afternoon, and you are filled with fomo - the fear that they're having a good time without you and you're missing all of it."

It was - well she understood the sentiment, she just wasn't entirely sure they needed a word for it. Or whatever fomo actually was, it probably wasn't a real word.

She narrowed her eyes at him just a little when he balked at her suggestion of a picture, because they hadn't kissed yet. As if that should make a difference at all. "Let's wait and see how tonight goes before we decide we're changing that." Though that look on his face, and well mostly everything from tonight had left Kitty open to the idea of it at the very least.

"It's something very accurate." Pyro confirmed. "I think we're speaking of the same one. Opinionated, good at her job, and absolutely stubborn." With a sigh and a smile he watched. "Though I think she leaves me be mostly, just brings food and drinks to cheer me up." Though truthfully, it was her presence that did it for him. She had a way about her that allowed him to be comfortable around her. Plus, it wasn't like she had to try and convince him to turn a new leaf and joint he X-Men, there wasn't anyone else around to make him join up with.

Raising a brow at her explanation of fomo. Disgusting. "That's ridiculous." He promptly said. "Please, let me miss out on things. I'm content and happy with missing out on things." With a sigh of content, he continued. "People can have their fun and their problems. I'm just happy sitting here with you, and not having anything to worry about." John paused thinking about it. "It's like retirement." He laughed softly.

"But kids will be kids, and always think their missing out on the next real fun thing. I'm just too old to care." John said with a smile.

"You're right." John got a face to feign seriousness. "We have to wait to see if I allow you to kiss me at the end of our date. I am a lady." Then there was a low smirk towards her.

She smiled when he talked about her a little more, continuing their ruse just a bit longer. "Well you know that's how I was raised, food and drinks were always the way to cheer people up or make things better." She explained. Her home life hadn't always been perfect, but that was one thing the Prydes had always agreed on. They were food people, whether it was taking care of one another or if it was offering a little support to a friend.

"Oh come on," She said laughing at the face he made when she explained, "It's not that bad. Better than Yolo at least." Because that had been truly disgusting, fomo was at least the sort of thing that kind of made a little bit of sense to her. "At least while we're here we probably won't have to worry about that sort of thing, it was mostly an internet sort of thing." Sure it carried over into the real world for some people, but Kitty had a feeling the average person didn't run into people talking about fomo anywhere outside a screen.

"God, it really is a bit like retirement isn't it?" She said briefly stunned by the idea of it - it wasn't of course, they weren't just finished with all their work and ready to do whatever they liked until they finally were ready to leave this world, but it was similar enough that the very idea of it made her shake her head. "Luckily with you being old enough for retirement you'll have enough free time not to miss out on anything." She teased.

Kitty sobered up as he teased her wearing her own mock serious face as they talked. "You're right, I'd never want to assume a lady like you would want anything of the sort on a first date."

"Well, it worked. Mostly your company did it, but the food wasn't a bad touch." John answered honestly. It was nice having someone who he could depend on, with out anything being required in return. It made him want to do nice things for her in return, like this night.

Win win. Something nice for just her, and spending time with Kitty. He'd take this type a night any time.

There was a blank look on his face as she mentioned this... yolo. "What the fuck is yolo?" John asked unamused by the thought. He already knew he wasn't going to like it. "It's something incredibly stupid isn't it?" Pyro already determined this notion.

Calling him old made John make a face of pure offended offense. "How dare.." He started and then he shrugged. "You're right. I'm an old man. Go get me a walker and get off my lawn." Pyro shook his fist meaninglessly in the air. "Whippersnappers!" Then he chuckled a little. "At least this is a relaxing place mostly." Pyro mentioned with a shrug.

"That's right." John confirmed. "I wore my best dress for this night, I refuse to be treated like some simple drum worker." Then he smiled teasingly.

"The dancing wasn't bad either," She added with a small tease, that had turned out to be a pretty fun night, especially after she'd worried that it wouldn't end well with the party and everything else going on. She'd known he'd be in a mood when she came to see him, but by the end of the night things had gotten a lot better than when she'd arrived - she liked being able to do that for him. And not just for him, his company had been nice for her as well, the party was nice of course, but it was still a party for Tony Stark and she'd needed a little space from that. John's company had been most welcome.

Just like it was tonight.

Kitty laughed out loud when he admitted to not knowing about yolo either, he really had missed out on a lot. "Oh yes, even I can admit that one is incredibly stupid." She nodded, "You only live once," She said shaking her head as she sighed, it really was just terrible.

His mock outrage at being called old morphed fairly quickly into acceptance of his new place in the world and she smiled watching it happen before she nodded. "It is pretty relaxing." She agreed, though she wondered how long it could last. This place was calm for now, but that couldn't last forever, Kitty had never seen any place that could sustain something like that for long. It was just a matter of time and she hoped that when something did finally happen it wouldn't be the sort of atomic bomb that she feared.

"I would never," She said pressing a hand to her chest as if to suggest she was truly genuine, "I have absolutely no designs on impugning your virtue tonight, I promise you."

There was a quick smile in thought of the dancing. It was good, the dancing. They were able to have fun through the night and that made the hangover the next morning much more tolerable oddly enough. Being the loose cannon he was, sometimes liquid encouragement did exactly that. Encourage him to be positive and not get into trouble.

The stunned expression on John's face around yolo probably was priceless. It was so fucking stupid! He shook his head. "Nope. Not doing it." He raised his hands. "I give up. Send me back to my grave. I can't live on this world anymore." Then he laughed. "Yolo. How fucking ridiculous is that." Despite Pyro's distaste for the word, he was still smiling at Kitty.

"It's incredibly relaxing. I've been quite fond of it to be honest." A man of danger, relaxation was something that was appreciated. But deep seeded was the thoughts of everyone revolting against the mutants, and then he'd have to take up arms and do terrible things. Things Kitty wouldn't want. Then he'd lose her too. That was the one thing Pyro didn't want, so he was perfectly content with the peaceful nature of the place until that day. "Lets just enjoy it together, eh?"

With Kitty confirming that she wasn't going to tread onto his virtue, Pyro couldn't help. Lifting his hand, pointing up he waggled his finger in a circle causing the candle flames near by to circle and dance. John grinned a smile at Kitty. "That's too bad. Because I was intending to throw my virtue out the window right with my shame."

Kitty couldn't help but laugh once more, she'd have to fill him in just a little bit more about the slang of today's youth in the future if only to get him to react like that a bit more. "Don't worry, I think most of the people who talk like that are probably back in the real world." She soothed him with a small smirk, "Who knows maybe someone here will come up with some new and awful slang for your enjoyment." They had quite a few younger people here after all - it could happen. "Don't give up on the world just yet."

Pyro wasn't the only one who had that fear, though most of the humans here seemed to have never have heard of mutants where they were from, so it seemed just a little bit unlikely that they'd turn on them. But after a lifetime of seeing just how easily humans did turn on mutants, Kitty couldn't let herself grow complacent in that either - it was something she was always on the watch for no matter what sort of front she presented to the world around her.

"I think that's a very good idea," She agreed when he suggested they just enjoy it, there wasn't much else for them to do at this point - so there was no rush to go spoiling it worrying about the things that could happen but likely wouldn't.

Her eyebrow rose just a touch as she watched the flap begin to move just a little under his direction as he grinned at her. "Oh is that so?" She asked him, "And here I thought you weren't that kind of girl."

It was easy for John to just be disgusted by this. With the fact he was a published writer, and people were slaughtering the English language for their own pleasures. Disgusting. "The youth of the world I have departed need to be slapped." Pyro stated in a droll unforgiving manner. "We have words for a reason, we should use them." Then the thought of new witty slang terms hurt Pyro deeply. "That hurts. I sure the fuck hope someone here doesn't slaughter the English language for their own enjoyment."

Pushing the what if's and the what could happens to the side, John was thrilled enough to focus on Kitty entirely. Kitty and this date. There wasn't reason to believe that the people here would cause them, as in mutants, any harm. There wasn't any signs of that and most of the people took in stride their abilities, so, there was that. "Well, I am often very full of great ideas. Just no one listens." John smirked.

Keeping the flames moving about he focused on her. "What can I say." John mused for a moment. "I lied." Then chuckled lightly.

"Let's be honest," Kitty said shaking her head, "Everyone where we're from needs to be slapped over something." It was just the way the world worked, there was always something doing something stupid, maybe they'd all be a lot better off with a slap like that.

She enjoyed that he was so particularly annoyed by the perceived slight to the English language - it wasn't what she expected from him, but it was sweet. "You know that's what people do right? Someone is always coming up with some new weird word, or shortening something else, trying to make Fetch happen." Kitty lifted her shoulders, there were some battles worth fighting, she just wasn't sure this was one of them.

"You just tell me your great ideas, I'll make sure they get heard." And not just by her, though of course she was more than happy to be the first.

Kitty bit her lip just briefly watching him play with the flame, "You, lie?" She scoffed lightly, "I'd never thought you could do such a thing." It was said teasingly, playfully, though they both had a few boundaries, he hadn't told her a real lie since he'd arrived as far as she knew.

"The wisest thing you have ever said, Kitty." Pyro almost purred. You can put a little good in the boy, but the anger and violence in the boy sometimes just came out. "Just a good slap, right across their face." He smirked some.

Around her, he was fine letting her know things about him. Things that he'd never tell another soul. Well, her, he'd do one better. John figured if he had ever come across any of his old books, he'd let her read em. Because, well... that was a part of his history he did not brag about. How did you brag about Gothic romance novels? You just didn't. Hell, he told Carol and he'd burn the town down to keep that secret a secret. But he also didn't think she'd share. "Ugh. Yes, people make up stupid words that are fragments of words, so they can say things quicker. Ridiculous." Sure, slang had a place, but slang was not the same as the bullshit of god damn yolo.

While Kitty offered to make sure his ideas were heard, John only smiled.

There was a real laugh. Touche, really. "Well, to be fair.." He started while he made the flames jump and twirl. "I haven't had a need to lie to you, nor desire to." John looked away from, uncomfortable with the real feelings of the topic focusing on the flames in the air now.

She laughed as he agreed all too easily with her suggestion that everyone needed to be slapped. "I think it'd be a wakeup call for them all." She said with as much seriousness as she could manage.

It was just the way the world worked, everyone with their cellphones and hash tags and all of that these days, Kitty supposed that was just the price to pay - the internet creating ridiculous words and things that had no actual meanings in the real world. "You know I bet people said the same thing when people started saying things like groovy." She said instead. "The actual good words manage to find a place and stick, while the more ridiculous ones fade out eventually." Like yolo, that was one you heard less and less these days.

It was shaping up to be a really nice night, her worries about what it would be, if they were rushing something or anything like that faded after she and John had started talking, and soon enough she was simply enjoy herself, enjoying flirting just a bit, and teasing, and just talking. So when he told her that he hadn't had the need or desire to lie to her, well that was something Kitty liked hearing.

"I'm glad you haven't, I don't want you to feel like you have to lie to me about anything." She told him honestly, and while she had delighted in watching him play with the flames she found her attention on his face now even as he looked away from her now. "Being able to actually talk to you has been - well an unexpectedly good part of being here." He was easy to talk to despite everything and it was nice actually getting to know him now.

Have you met Pyro. He hated people, so of course he'd agree. Humans too. He hated them. Though it was for a whole string of very pointed reasons. Of course, those feelings were curbed with his being tired of fighting, and this place here now, made it easy not to be so hateful.

So did Kitty.

"Groovy is also a shit word." John marked firmly with a wide smile and a chuckle. Though, he could combat anything if he put his mind to it. "Though, I will concede." He held up a hand and one of the candle flames went back to it's wick. "With out inventive teenagers, we'd not evolve past our primitive states of man. We only have future generations to depend on, so we should sink our resources in them to hope they don't fuck the place up when we're gone." Pyro shrugged. "But punch them in their stupid throats for saying ridiculous shit like yolo."

Though the real talk pulled John in on himself some. One moment he found himself fine, but then the next just too real. WHat if he finally saw the final day and was gone. Or worse yet, if he got close to Kitty, and then she's suddenly gone. What then? Pushing the thought right out of his head, he looked to Kitty. This night, how ever it was going, he was happy with the outcome to this point. He wasn't sure himself how'd all this would go, but it was going swimmingly. Just the pair of them talking and enjoying each other's company. Meal, wine, laughs. This was perfect. She was god damn perfect.

"Well, don't give me one." John countered with a sly smile. As she expressed her feelings about getting to know him, he could only nod. "I agree. You're much more pleasant to talk to when we're not fighting." Then his smile widened. "Also much more attractive than Xavier." Pyro mused. "That is quite the bonus, Professor."

She had to laugh when he managed to both be very poignant about the future of the world and in the same breath suggest punching that future in the throat. Here at least in this place, it probably wasn't something they were going to have to worry about much, as long as the younger people they had here weren't too obnoxious they should all be fine - and so far they all seemed more than fine.

Their night had been a mix of honesty as we as the same kind of teasing and laughter that had gotten them here to this point - where she'd agreed to a night out (or in she supposed considering the setting ) with him. But that was part of it wasn't it? If this was going to be anything real and more than the friendship they'd been building they'd need to have these real and honest talks too.

"I don't plan on it." She assured him, because like she said she didn't want him to ever feel that need with her.

"I think it's the hair," She said seriously, when he told her she was more attractive than Xavier. "You should have seen him with a full head of hair." She teased, "We might not be having this conversation at all."

Why laugh? Pyro was a very interesting and strange man. He had many layers that could be peeled of for sure. As creepy as that sounded. Don't peel him. Though, he just was disdained towards the ridiculous notion on the creation of ridiculous words. Though, he didn't have to live in that world anymore. Just one world. This one. Who knew how long that would last. Again, his mind dipped into the what ifs of this world, and he had to shove it way. This was fine.

They were fine.

This night was what was needed for them. Something to drive home their lives here in this place, regardless of length. This place, here, allowed them to get to know each other. The real them. Not the ones they had to be because of situations they had encountered in their world. This one, where he was allowed to live and get to know Kitty, and have these talks of bondship that only pulled them closer. That was what he liked most. So when Kitty acknowledged that she wouldn't give him a reason to lie, John smiled.

"And I'll do the same." There was a small slight smile. It was a nervous one, because he didn't know if he could do the same. He sure hoped so, because he didn't want to mess up, but he was him afterall.

Raise in his eyebrow made Pyro think about Professor X with hair. "Was that when he didn't have wheels?" Because John wasn't so sure if either was ever a thing.

It was good, to be on the same page - when the night had started she hadn't been entirely sure that they were there on that same page together. but as it had all gone on and they'd talked more she felt more comfortable with it all. Like they were understanding one another and knew where they were headed now with all of this.

Even if the ultimate destination was something that was too far out to see they knew the general course for now and that was important to Kitty. And maybe this was strange for her - but having gone around and around with Piotr for so long maybe something entirely off the beaten path was what she needed for herself.

Kitty opened her mouth to reply and then paused tilting her head to one side before she shrugged. "I guess it was, he never had any while I knew him." She admitted, it was almost impossible to picture and she might have thought he'd never had any if she hadn't seen pictures.

"Just think, Xavier young with a full head of hair walking around." She laughed softly, it was a different sort of image for her when she thought of the professor, but it was a good one none the less and after realizing that things weren't quite everything they seemed to be when she was younger it was good to have some nice thoughts associated with him too.

John was completely at ease. The fact the pair of them were on the same page. The comfort he felt around her, only grew as the days passed and they spent more time together. That was really something John hadn't felt before in it's fullest. So this, was really nice.

John was silent for a long moment while he looked at her. Considered his feelings, and what there was to offer here... he just was happy. With the then and now. He was dead, she was living and her. They were a trashy romance novel waiting to happen, and John was just fine with that. "Lets just remember to live in the now. I rather that, then constantly worry about the later when we're no longer able to see each other." It was somber, but true. "Just each day as they come." Then John offered a small shrug, and equally small smile.

"I can't imagine.." Wheels. "Xavier with hair or not rolling around." It was an odd thought for Pyro. "Or reading minds. Or doing mind things. Or..." Not being there. As much as the man was his enemy, even John could acknowledge he was a good man. Some people were just that way. There was just two ways to operate, and he was on the other spectrum. "Interesting how time changes us." Pyro laughed lightly.

Kitty didn't like that thought, that there could potentially come a time when they were all sent home and that would mean that that he was just gone. But he was right, it was better to live in the now than spend all their time worrying about something they didn't seem to have any control over. "Make the most of what we have while we have it." She agreed, nodding.

It was perhaps a grim truth, but it was one that they should both be aware of.

She laughed, "Some things are just too much Xavier to really separate from the man and keep the image the same." She'd seen pictures and even for her it was too much to believe, he'd always been one way for the entire time that she'd known him, right up to his death. And trying to change that memory felt a little wrong even if it was still true.

"We're all complicated people at the end of the day." She said with a small smile as John admitted to time changing people, Xavier of course, but the both of them too. "It's easy to see one another as just one thing and ignore the rest, but it's always better to really get to know someone. You might just found out that they're kind of sweet under that rough exterior." She said with a teasing sort of smile, letting her ankle press against his beneath the table as she spoke.

There wasn't really anymore Pyro had to say on that specific topic. The one where they kept thinking of and circling back to. How much time did they have and such. The truth of the situation was what it was, and that really was just it. Pyro planned to make as much of his time with Kitty as good as possible, until he was dead again. That was his truth in the matter.

"You obviously knew him much better than I." John admitted. "I just know him from my side, though.." Pyro paused as he considered his thoughts. "I can't imagine him being that terrible. X-Men and the Brotherhood had similar goals and ideals. Just one was..." He shrugged. "Well, me." He admitted more easily instead of calling it all evil. That was like beating a dead horse. The Brotherhood did some incredibly distasteful things, some Pyro weren't too keen to be proud of this time around.

When he felt her again under the table, he couldn't help his reaction, his eyes drifted down towards the table as if he could see through it. Any of his abilities he was still using was lost due to the distraction and the candles returned to normal. A low smile crossed John's lips as he refocused on Kitty. "Kitty, are you insinuating that I might be actually sweet." He feigned shock. "The nerve. No one would believe you anyway." His smirk grew.

"I don't know that any of us ever actually knew him." She admitted, it was something she was learning more and more the older she got. He'd felt like a mentor, something of a father figure, someone who cared for them and mutants everywhere, but she was learning that Xavier was not that simple. And he'd made choices that Kitty had no idea how he lived with and hid things from them leaving them to deal with them after he'd been killed.

But she didn't want to get into all of that with John, it was stupid and debating the morality of Charles Xavier was something she'd done enough of since his death to last her a lifetime. Instead she'd much rather focus on tonight, on John and his nearness and what they were building together out here in the open rather than hidden the way so much about her life had been before she came here.

Kitty managed to keep her face relatively innocent despite the smile that crossed her face as John looked down at the table when she'd touched him. As if he had the ability to see through the table top. "I don't know." She said thoughtfully, "I think a case could be made for you being sweet." Especially here, especially after tonight. "And well - people usually believe me when I say things." She added with a teasing smirk of her own, her foot sliding just a bit higher along his calf.

John smiled a slight smile. "I didn't really know him at all." Truthfully. Though if he was a betting man, and John was on occasion, he would bet that Xavier knew all about him. It just seemed he was that type of man. Though, Xavier seemed like a man who was good all the way around, despite John's own personal beliefs at the time.

John wasn't even one to debate morality of anyone. Who was he to judge. Have you met him? He was a terrible person, who did absolutely terrible things. What John believed in, was doing what you think is right in the now. It just happened that his morality of the right thing to do was somewhat looser than most. Like earlier with Carol when he incinerated an entire alien prison ward in a blink of an eye. Or when his fury lit up the individuals in that fucked up world with Kitty.

Granted, it was life or death. In both instances, but he could of taken better care not to kill people. Possibly.

John caught the sly smile of innocence on her face as he felt her foot slide further up. The look in his eyes danced dangerously in the candle light. "Kitty Pryde. How dare you. Slander." He said with a chuckle. "I am nothing of the sort." Though his arguing the fact was there, his tone said the opposite.
