Who: Carol and Clark
When: Saturday morning
Where: Somewhere on the outskirts of town in the woods
What: Blowing off steam
Rating: TBA (probably low unless there is swearing)

Carol had been trying to handle things in Starklandia one day at a time. She'd convinced herself this was temporary and to maybe even see it as her universe's way of making her take a vacation. After all, 25 years with no real time off was a long time for anyone, even someone who didn't seem to age. But now it was becoming tedious and the days were starting to blur together, even at the bar.

Again, she could have probably dealt with the routine had there not been the sudden influx of new people. Or that's what she told herself. She was never good on her own, less so when there was nothing to do. When things were quiet it just got worse, which was sort of ironic considering where she'd gone to blow off steam that day. But it was better here than in the city. And through the doors, she never knew what she'd find.

She hadn't flown in a long time. There wasn't a reason to around such a small area, and she didn't really want to freak out the newcomers who might not be used to seeing flying people. So she tried that for a little bit, but America had been right. No matter how much she flew up, it was just an endless struggle. That's when she came down and grew more frustrated, she aimed a photon blast straight at a large rock by the lake. As expected, it shattered easily. And it didn't really help.

"FUCK!" She shouted and hit a tree. Which then came crashing down. With a wince (more for the uncontrolled outburst than any pain), Carol let out a sigh and sat down on the ground. Never had she ever wished that something or someone threatening could pop out of the bushes and attack just so she could take out her frustration.

He grinned, seeing the unsurprised look on her face. Of course, he expected it. Carol was adept at adapting to her what was thrown at her. A skill he was certain most military people had to hone. What he had not expected was to be shot with crackling photon energy.

In truth, he should've been playing closer attention. He might've dodged the blast. Instead, though, he took the brunt of it -- managing to, in just enough time, to bring up his arms to keep it from his face and he could feel the blast initially push him back, but he propelled himself forward and kept himself from hitting the ground.

"Okay, then," he said under his breath and he darted directly at her, pulling his arm back, and right before going in for the punch directly square in the chest.

Well, she couldn't say she wasn't happy to see she got him back for the sucker punch earlier. But apparently, they were now both aware of what they were up against. And Carol was ready. He rushed towards her, and she moved out of the way just in time as he flew by, shooting a photon blast at him before flying back and a little higher.

Okay, maybe the blasts weren't exactly playing fair. She probably should consider it, but she also could already tell that he probably was faster than her- at least in this atmosphere. Her best chance would be to catch him off guard. She'd barely dodged the punch in the first place and she wasn't going to risk letting him get that close again if she could help it.

"So...what are you? Alien? Super-human?"

He spiraled out once heard the surge of energy, narrowly dodging out of that bolt. Clark spun out, and turned back to face Carol. Thankfully, there were enough tricks up his sleeve that he could surprise her a few more times. If he could help it, anyway.

He grinned. "So, you think aliens aren't human?" Sure, it was a tease, and he knew what she was asking, but she hadn't exactly been candid with him when he asked. "Your remind me a little of my cousin's adopted sister." Alex Danvers was an intense individual, but Carol's brand of humor... Well, he was sure they'd get along.

Carol wasn't surprised when he dodged, and it occurred to her that this might very well end in a stalemate. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that it probably wasn't so bad. She was still feeling a little better just having the chance to aim at a target (even if he kept moving), and even if he'd drawn blood from her, the adrenaline seemed to have a more of a calming effect on her mind.

"I didn't say that." She cocked her head, smirking and wondering how much he knew. Considering her own history, it was funny that he'd said that. "So alien. Got it. Hybrid? What species?"

When he mentioned a cousin's sister and she raised an eyebrow. "How so?"

"Is species the appropriate term?" he asked with a quirked brow. "Wouldn't it be more of a race situation?" He was, of course, just being a bit difficult. Mostly because it kept Carol off her game. "I'm not sure if you have my people in your universe," he said, and then he hesitated, "though we don't really have my people anymore in my universe either." As far as he knew, he and Kara were the last of their kind.

He smirked, though. "Dry humor. Straight forward. Soldiers." He hesitated. "Though, I suppose she's a scientist first." But that was neither here nor there. "Should I take this intense level of conversation as a white flag?"

"Race, then." She was smirking at the comment, though. Maybe it was the Kree talking, too. That whole need for purity of blood. Another reason it had been hard for her to live among them all those years. The mention that he was the last one did cause her grin to falter little, clearly hitting a nerve.

"Sounds like a girl after my own heart." Carol nodded before floating towards the ground again as he seemed willing to call a truce. As much as she wouldn't mind continuing, she had a feeling that they were at a stalemate. And there were only so many trees around, they probably didn't want to level the forest.

"So...who are</i? your people. Even if I don't know them in my universe, maybe there's a similar spec- er, race in my own. I've done some traveling around the galaxies, you never know."

Clark hovered in the air for a few moments as he looked out at the stars that weren't from his own universe. "I come from a planet called Krypton," he began, sadness tinging each word. "I'm told they were brilliant scientists." His face faltered. "They used up all of their planets resources and eventually it just..." He glanced back at Carol and mimicked an explosion in his hand. "My parents, though, managed to launch me to Earth on a ship beforehand."

He shrugged, though, before turning to face Carol again. "But that's all I know," he replied. "I don't know how much of it was glossed over and there's not really many people who can corroborate the story." That was, of course, mostly true. "How about you?"

Her eyes grew sad as he explained what happened to his planet and his family. "I'm sorry." Her words were sincere. It was the sort of story she'd seen across the universe before, but it never got any easier hearing it. She'd spent much of her life now trying to prevent such tragedies, but it was not always possible.

"I never heard of Krypton. But I have heard similar stories about other planets..."

She shook her head and sighed. Her? That was a hard one to explain. "Born human, but I have kidnapped years ago and my blood was replaced with a species called the Kree. So...guess now I'm a hybrid. The only human/Kree hybrid, actually. That's not why I can fly, though. The reason the Kree wanted me was because I'd been hit with energy from something called the Power Stone, and my body was able to absorb it and survive long enough for them to make the blood transfer- that's the only reason I survived, I'm told."

He shrugged. "It was all before I was born," he said with a small smile. "But there were a few things that were left to me, so they're not completely forgotten." The fact that the same thing had happened in other worlds was... Well, sad. But also reminded him that the universe was an unforgiving place when you did not take care of your home planet. Maybe that was why he'd been so driven to be the protector of his adopted home. Or at least, part of the reason.

"Alien abduction," he said with a slow nod. "And cosmic accident. You're really ticking all the metahuman boxes, aren't you?" He wore a small, teasing grin. He had a fair share of friends who'd had their own brush with alien abduction and experimentation. "I haven't met all that many extra terrestrials," he admitted. "Aside from my cousin, and another, we've gone fairly unnoticed." Despite the DEO's mission statement. Though, from what he was hearing, there were far more aliens hiding on earth than they realized. He just hadn't met them yet.

"Yeah, well I've always been an over-achiever," Carol shrugged off the meta-human comment with a half-grin. "Of course, I didn't get much say in this one."

It was funny. So much of her life now existed around things that were 'alien', that she couldn't imagine a universe without it. It really was different where he came from. "Huh. I mean, it's good that you're out there. Probably better that you've gone unnoticed- the planet, I mean. I don't know what your universe is like, but we have a pretty nasty extra-terrestrial presence out there." She'd crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head.

"The Kree, Ravagers, you name it." Of course, she'd battle them all. Though the one that got away caused the most harm. "Titans." The word came out quietly and she shook her head, not wanting to think about it.

"Anyway, glad your Earth has you."

Clark merely shrugged his shoulders. "My database has only really told me about a few races," he replied. "It's a bit dense, and I don't think I have the patience to listen to Kelex talk about alien physiology for very long." He smiled, though. "You certainly have encountered a good number. Must be fascinating."

"Well," he began with a faltering smile, "now they have my cousin and her friends." He hoped that was enough. Kara was just beginning her career, but he was confidents he was more than capable of taking care of anything if there was a job for someone super. He glanced up at the sky and took a deep breath before glancing back at his new friend. "Feeling better than before?" he asked.

"It is. Sometimes." Carol smirked in regards to her encounters with life outside of Earth's. It was honestly sometimes a bit less than pleasant, but she didn't have to explain that part. This man seemed like he would understand that.

His question caused her to laugh and she gave a half-shrug. "Yeah, something like that. How about you, flyboy?" Oh yeah, she wasn't going to let him get away without that nickname. "I appreciate it, though. Letting me try to punch you. We'll get there eventually."
