Who: Anyone who wants to come by
What: Grand-opening party!
Where: Pancho's Bar
When: Friday Night

The streamers were up (because Jan had insisted), and the bar was as ready as it ever would be. Alcohol was stored in a few make-shift shelves on the back wall and a relatively well-cobbled together bar was freshly polished and ready to go. It wasn't the most well-put-together, place, but Pancho's definitely resembled its namesake in terms of dim lighting, chipped tables and a floor that looked like it should be sticky. All in all, Carol was pretty proud of what they'd made. The minifridge was even a good choice since it allowed them to keep some drinks cold (they were going to have to find a larger one in the future, though).

She had warned Peter that the pizza oven needed to be ready by that evening, but she wasn't sure how on the ball with that he was. She'd been busy doing damage control on some electrical issues they were having with the fridge and double checking to make sure they actually had drinking cups (that took a little bit of maneuvering, but Clint came through with the coffee mugs). Yup, vodka from coffee mugs, a mini-fridge filled with a variety of stolen beers, and mismatched chairs. And, of course, the balloons. The annoying, awful squeaky balloons that had floated into a couple of corners of the room, save for the two that kept dragging on the floor and that Carol dreaded would pop at some point that evening. Definitely professional.

Karaoke was set up in one corner of the room with a make-shift stage and Christmas lights (Yes, more Christmas lights) decorating around it. Old 80s rock music blasted from the speakers for now, and Carol stood behind the bar, ready to serve as needed but more than willing to drag anyone else into the position should they so choose that evening.

He wasn't much for bars, although they were good places to blend in and gather intel. But he wasn't a drinker really, no point to it and so a bar, well it wasn't high on his list. But in this place there wasn't much, besides COFFEE and now this. Although Steve was a fan of Pizza, when it was done right. So of course he was there, as much as to support them as to enjoy the evening. It seemed like everyone had turned up though and it was nice to see people enjoying themselves, some more than others, with a few more drinks under their belts than others, Steve would have to keep half an eye on Tony.

Steve grinned as he stepped up to the bar, holding out his hand to Carol. "Well this looks great!" He exclaimed happily. "Could I get a beer?" Not that he had much to offer her in exchange except that smile. But that was the way of where they were at the moment and getting rich didn't have much point.

"Smells great as well, Pizza, what a fantastic idea," he added because there had been more than a few like minded New Yorkers lamenting about the lack of their favourite staple.

She'd just finished chatting with someone else when Steve came up to offer his hand. Carol smiled and reached over the bar to shake it, giving a little nod. "Thanks, and sure thing as long as you're not picky." She had a feeling the old captain wasn't. Reaching down for the mini fridge stored under the bar, she pulled out a bottle and opened it for him with her bar hand (no point in using a bottle opener if you didn't need one, right?).

"Parker's pretty proud of that one. I will admit, I had my doubts." But she was glad to be wrong. "I'm surprised you made it out. I didn't think this would be your scene."

She didn't necessarily mean that as a bad thing, but from what she knew about Rogers was that he was a pretty clean and sober type. She knew a few of them in the military, even if they were pretty rare (and none were pilots). They were the ones that went to church on Sundays and kept themselves sober for most of their adult lives.

If there was something Steve wasn't, it was picky. You got by with what was there and most things felt like a luxury, especially cold beer. Steve inclined the bottle in her direction before taking a sip, no need to rush it wasn't about to touch the sides anyway. "Thanks," he said with an easy smile.

The smell of dough and cheese would bring every last person out, Steve was sure of it. Not like they were going hungry, there was food around and places to visit, the vegetable garden grew at an excellent rate and there was hunters among them. But pizza? Well that was more than just food, it tasted and smelled like home.

He raised his eyebrows at her, maybe it was fair to assume he wasn't the kind to get out much and he wasn't, not really. But he was social, lots of the people here were his friends and his gaze shifted to Tony and the blinding alcohol induced smile on his face. Someone had to carry home Prince Charming when he was done. "I like good company, I don't want to lock myself away and miss all the fun."

Carol actually smirked at Tony when Steve's gaze fell on him. "Poor guy was trying to keep up." She laughed and tipped her cup to the captain before taking a drink. "And I'm not saying you don't like to get out, but we don't exactly have a bandstand here, Cap."

She was teasing him, leaning on the bar and looking around. It was surprisingly crowded, but Peter could handle it for a little bit.

"So...how's the gym? I've been itching to come by, but I've been pretty busy with this place lately. Do you have a boxing ring, yet?" Carol was sort of fishing. She was itching for a reason to spare, but she also realized it probably would be looked down upon around here to just ask who wanted to fight. That and she wasn't sure if anyone could give her a challenge.

Of course, Tony had got this way making a point to Carol and despite Steve sometimes worrying about Tony and his drinking, well tonight he smiled. Because he looked like he was enjoying himself, they could use a little down time after the world ending. "I've been to a bar or two in my time, this should be fine." Actually he'd ended up in a few that had made him blush right up to his ears but he wasn't about to go admitting that in mixed company.

"It's great," Steve said eagerly. "I mean it's a work in progress, but the ring looks fantastic." They'd made do with what they could salvage and as a result, well Steve thought it looked better than he might have first imagined. But things got that way with help. "You looking to try it out?"

Steve already knew that she was, he got the idea from shared conversation that any excuse might do.

"Well, hopefully, we can live up to your previous experiences, then." Carol knew Steve probably wasn't as straight-laced as his reputation pictured him to be. He was a man of war. Her own military experience led her to understand there was no truly innocent person on the battlefield or even in boot camp. It had been a pretty brutal reality, but she figured Rogers just did his best to keep on his moral compass regardless, especially in his downtime. She respected him for it.

Carol laughed and nodded. "I definitely want to try it out. Don't get me wrong, things are nice and peaceful here, but..." She shrugged, taking a drink of whiskey. "Maybe I'm just not meant for peaceful, anymore. Not in the long term." Fighting felt normal after so many years, and she honestly missed a part of it.

"You?"
