Steve liked the fresh air, he hadn't got a chance to enjoy it in Wakanda, hadn't got a chance to do much except what had been done. Then like the dust in his hands it had all slipped away, reality and earth did as well. At first he'd been alone, he'd had time to explore everything by himself, had slept and eaten and there had been days of that kind of echoing quiet. It gave him time to think, this hadn't been part of his plan. He'd cleared out a house, put together a tool kit from things he'd found around. The tools had needed some care but worked well for his basic needs.

Once he'd seen to cleaning, washing windows inside and out, then it was building up firewood. Steve must have spent an entire day taking apart dead trees, carrying the stores into the square. It was good, he didn't think too much then, just that it might get cold, there might be more people.

And there were more people, strangers who appeared much the same as he had and Steve tried to give them space, be welcoming and yet not threatening. He wasn't sure how well it was working. But he'd decided that usually the best way to make peace and the like was through someone's stomach. Which is what had lead him to taking a little walk down to where the trees got closer together and twigs cracked under foot.

He never wanted to kill something, but he also understood foodchains and the like. The large boar hadn't stood much chance against the impact of his shield and it was quick at least. The rest of it took longer and Steve didn't have a lot of experience but it wasn't the first time he'd butchered something so he got there. Steve carried it back to the square, where he'd already lit the fire under the metal rack he'd dragged out from behind a shed was scrubbed clean. A spit would be better, but that kind of machinery wasn't his forte. Coals and what looked to be an old metal gate would do fine.

It was practically a barbecue.

Welp. This was all very interesting. After meeting other!Clint, Kate felt like she was ready for anything this place had to throw at her. Would there be another her arriving? Maybe. Would they be besties? Definitely. Could they figure out a plan to try and escape? Probably not. So really, it didn't matter how many strange things happened, they were still stuck here. There HAD to be a way out. Maybe she just wasn't thinking about it in the right way.

After eating enough of the meat to make her stomach feel full, Kate decided to explore the town square a bit, peeking in windows in hopes of finding something useful. It seemed like her Clint knew what he was talking about; this village seemed pretty deserted.

She was just passing another window when some movement caught her attention in the glass. She looked at the reflection and a familiar spring of beautiful curl's made her stop in her tracks.

"America?" She turned to hurry after her.

"AMERICAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Before she could have a moment to really catch what was happening, Kate found herself throwing herself at her in a wild embrace.

She'd spent a little time at the gathering but wasn't really getting the answers she wanted so America was going to check out the town a little more on her own, she'd just been ready to kick off when she heard an all too familiar voice that stopped her in her tracks.

She had only enough time to stop and see that it was actually her favorite archer, before she found her arms full of her very best friend. She squeezed Kate tight twirling her around, the two of them rising off the ground for a moment, feeling relief for the first time since she'd found herself there.

"Kate!" She said setting them both down on the ground again, "Please tell me you didn't set this up just to get a little time with me, chica." She huffed shaking her head at the very idea of it. This wasn't exactly Kate's MO but you never knew.

"Well, it HAS been some time since I saw you." She grinned, pulling back to give her a punch in the shoulder. "But no, this isn't me." The excitement started to wear off once she realized that America must have been just as trapped as the rest of them. "No...?" She stomped her foot on the ground, already knowing the answer.

At least they were both here. She could be thankful for small graces, especially in their current situation. "You been here long?"

"It has been," America agreed, she felt a sense of lightness knowing at least there was someone here she knew and that it was Kate only made things better, if there was anyone in the multiverse that she'd want to be trapped with it was Kate Bishop.

America sighed and shook her head, punching a portal open and watching it flicker and refuse to get large enough for them to make their way through. "It's not stable enough to send anyone through, they'd end up bisected, and I don't know about you Princess, but I'm not ready to cut anyone in half to try and send them home."

"No, no I haven't been, I just got here actually." She admitted, just having long enough to get a little bit of a look around before she realized the group was gathering in the center of the too small town. "What about you? Have you figured out any of this yet?"

"Like, literally just got here?" That was interesting. "I've been here..." She started to count on her fingers. "Two days? Maaaaybe three..." Weird, why couldn't she remember now? It's not like time seemed to pass any differently here.

"And who knows? I've only met a few other people around here. Hey! But Clint's here!" She beamed. Alright, at least this could be bearable. "No sign of Billy or Teddy though." Now that might have been too perfect. With all of them, they'd probably be able to find a way out.

"Did you see there's like, a barbeque going on?" She jerked her thumb in the direction of the town. "I guess this is just normal life now?"

America agreed, it was strange though, that Kate had been here longer than that, they hadn't all been pulled from the world to arrive at the same moment, she wondered if they'd all come from the same time though. "What were you doing before you got here?" She wondered now, curious about the way time seemed to be out of whack, it was the sort of thing she had a bit of experience with but having as much information as possible felt like a good place to start.

Grinning when Kate told her Clint was there, that felt good - like they were getting a team together, "No one else we know, though?" She asked, there had been the woman who seemed just as new as her and a few other faces that didn't really look familiar to her, at least not immediately. Not the way Kate did.

"This is normal life? I don't think so, Princess." Ay dios mio, America didn't think there was anything about this she could call normal - even when you considered the sort of life she'd had up to this point. "This can't be normal, this is what - a pit stop, just something we have to figure out before we get back to normal life."

Wow, she wasn't kidding about just arriving. What were the chances of that happening? Still, it only made Kate feel all tingly inside to know they had been able to find each other in such a short amount of time. She could only guess that if they had arrived together the day before, their reunion would have been similar.

"Uhhh..." Kate scrunched up her nose, trying to remember. What had she been doing? "I moved to California because...well, drama." They could talk about that later. "I tried to open up a private eye business out there. It did...well." Understatement. Still, she was happy with all they were able to do. She had made some new anchor points, but she wished America and the others had been there too.

Kate shook her head, America reminding her of the others lost so far. "A few names I recognize, but not the faces." If that made sense. Well, if anyone understood, it would be America. She'd seen enough shit that Kate was sure nothing would surprise her ever again.

She smiled at the nickname she would have punched anyone else in the face for. When America said it, it felt more like a compliment, more like home.

More like a normal life. Kate couldn't help but laugh at that. "Right, like we've ever really had a normal life!" But she was here now, so maybe it was possible. She slung an arm around her shoulders. "I guess we can see what happens. But..." here she finger gunned at her friend.

"At least I've got you babe!"

America frowned as Kate told her a bit about what she'd been doing before she'd found herself here, so not dealing with sharks with legs the way she seemed to have been when she'd called America for help. "You weren't you know.... dealing with land sharks before you came here, were you?" She asked, just trying to get a better idea of the sort of time line they were working with. It sounded like it wasn't exactly linear, which sure - that was a thing, but America didn't exactly appreciate it either.

"Sounds like this is all switched around then, I wonder who is behind this." She frowned again, wishing for a clear answer, or someone to step out of the shadows and claim responsibility for it all, but that didn't seem to be happening yet, at least not for her, so here she was - at least with her very best friend in the world for company, so it wasn't all bad.

If she didn't know better it sounded like the sort of thing that Mother had pulled them into, familiar names but not quite the faces, damn the multiverse and all of it's variations.It was a kind of annoyance that America didn't always hate, but at the moment she wasn't particularly a fan.

Laughing, America tugged Kate in closer and laughed, "Still the same Kate Bishop I've always known, I'd be lost without you. At least I know if we have to kick some ass while we're here I've got the most capable girl around on my side."
